We all like playing videogames, no question. But how many of us finish our games?
This little thread will be a challenge to see who among us can finish the most games in 2016. Just post your status as you go through the year of finished games and I'll (or anyone who wants to help, preferable those with post editing privileges if there's a time limit on editing one's own posts). This will also be a competition, so once a game is claimed beaten, it can't be claimed by anyone else and added to your score. Total finished games by everyone will also be tallied, so we can compare our status year by year.
A Few Clarifications
- This is for finished games, not necessarily completed games. Just reach the ending and that counts, no need to reach 100% or anything like that.
- For games that lack normal endings, so to say, like an arcade fighting game or those sorts of works, reach some sort of ending (beat arcade mode with a character, for example). If it's a game like a sports title, beat the highest tournament or league. If you need to ask questions about this, please do.
- For games with multiple endings, just get one ending, and not a game over or premature finish ending. For example, if you beat Undertale with the neutral ending but not the Pacifist or Genocide ending, that will count.
- Games without proper endings can't really be beaten. if they just go on forever or are games that keep adding content for players without a proper story mode or the like (such as many mobile games), you can't really count it.
- Let's just ban all free Flash games or narrative games (free games made in Twine, for example) right now. If it's a title you pay for, you can count it as valid (so yes, games like Gone Home or The Stanley Parable do count). I'm also discounting game hacks, simply because figuring out which has a good amount of content will take far too long.
- DLC expansions will not be counted, nor be necessary to play to finish a game.
- Once a game is claimed, you cannot claim it! Whoever claims the game first will get the credit and the game added to their total.
- You can count games you're replaying, it doesn't have to be a fresh title.
- You cannot start up any save files from previous years (including 2015). It must be a fresh play that started in 2016. For example, I'm currently playing Post Mortem and started it in late December. That's still 2015, so even when I beat it, it won't count into my tally.
- If you can, show a photograph or screenshot of the credits, and please spoil your picture if it contains spoilers. You don't have to do this, it would just be neat!
- If you need further clarification, please ask!
The current-updated list of claimed games and standings can be found in this post.
