I'm still hoping for Go Go Ackman 2 and 3 myself.

If SNES translating is pretty much over, then where the hell are my Goemon games!! I wonder the same thing. The Goemon games could use some more fan-translation love.

It wasn't "my favorite" or anything, since I discovered it today for the first time thanks to HG101's article on Legionnaire, but this site Punchpedia that attempted to cover every side-scrolling brawler ever looked pretty cool and interesting, with an original visual style and lots of possible info. Unfortunately it stopped updating in 2015, when the dude compiling it mentioned that he was working on a game of its own, and then nothing after that. A shame, because there are only a few 100% complete articles, but even the others that aren't are fairly comprehensive and look like the gaming magazines of yesterday, complete with info boxes and ugly mascot.

Interestingly enough Super Famicom Wars has since been translated.

Does anyone remember Play4Real (p4rgaming)? They were basically video game version of The Onion, putting up satires/fake articles by daily basis. Didn't visit there that much, but their "interview" with Yoshio Sakamoto blaming Other M's failure for Samus' gender was especially infamous, tricking a lot of people to believe the quote is real. Seems like they just kind of disappeared after 2015. I was also gonna mention VGMusic, but found out they're still going well and strong. Last December was their 21st anniversary. Interesting.

I forget the exact name, but it was something like vgmix.com, or something to that effect.
Unlike Overclocked Remix, where remixes are submitted for review and posting, vgmix was a completely raw site. Anyone could upload a work-in-progress game music remix. I found quite a bit of very cool and interesting mixes. Some of which ended up being featured on Overclocked. I feel like vgmix.com was a pet project of Jake Kaufman, or another prominent game music arranger/remixer, but I forget exactly who since it has been over a decade.

A bit sad i have to add VGJunk blogsite to the list now. Oh no! I loved that blog. Sadly it was a foregone conclusion, since the author (who even contributed a couple articles to HG101 IIRC) stated he was being busy with work and hadn't updated the page in months without any other info. Nine years however are a pretty long time for a blog, so I think it wouldn't have lasted much longer than that...

Gametrailers is so very missed, still. I never found another VG news/reviews site I enjoyed even half as much. I know a lot of the people from Gametrailers are now Easy Allies on youtube, which is alright, but it’s not really the same.
I can’t stand Gamespot or IGN anymore cause they write about the most uninteresting irrelevant things imaginable (IMO, of course). Kotaku often tries to be very quirky which does not land every time, but at least it talks more about japanese games than Gamespot, which is nice, but I still don’t feel any desire to visit more than maybe once a week.
I mostly watch youtubers for news, previews and reviews these days, but I miss the content quality that was Gametrailers..

Not a website but rather a YouTube channel: Lore In A Minute. Brief humorous animations that recapped the lore of some famous or less famous games in a minute or so, always made in a funny and charming way and usually with a good amount of research. Apparently the parent company Polaris went under so the channel was suddenly abandoned without any notice or explanation, and will probably remain that way since nobody has said anything about it.
HAVE FUN (°A°)

I've made an attempt to revive PunchPedia in another form, more details here: hg101.proboards.com/thread/14768/beatem-world-site-wake-punchpedia

I just noticed that Flying Omelette's main site is no longer online. There is only a blank white page with two lines of text and two links. It appears that an era of gaming sites is about to come to an end.
