www.hardcoregaming101.net/segata/segata.htmSega Saturn shiro! The tough guy Saturn spokesman may have sacrificed his life (in the ads, of course) to save Sega from their evil competitors, but his triumphant spirit lives on in this collection of minigames.

Before the advent of Youtube, the ISO image for this game was pretty much the most reliable way to get at good quality versions of the commercials, because with the right Cinepak codec installed, you can just watch the videos right off the disc.

Since the article doesn't mention it, this was actually the very last game released for the Sega Saturn. Also the guy who plays Segata Sanshiro (which is a pun on an old Akira Kurosawa movie) is actually far better known in Japan for playing a certain OTHER character.

Since the article doesn't mention it, this was actually the very last game released for the Sega Saturn. It's not. The last first-party release in Japan was Sonic 3D Blast, released in late 1999 (on the same day as Sonic Adventure International), and the last Saturn release overall is Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku Hozonban Perpetual Collection, in December of 2000. Another thing to note is that apparently the game was developed by Ecole, the same people behind the infamous Death Crimson (and its sequels), and more recently the Melty Blood games and Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.

You may want to add that Segata Sanshiro also appears in Rent A Hero No. 1 for Dreamcast, under the name "Mr. SegaSa". You can fight him (luckily he's not so absurdly powerful) to learn new moves for the fighting sequences.

Always wanted to try this one, being a huge fan of Sega Saturn. But this is also the reason why I won't. Segata deserves a better game. I imagine something like Konami's Wai Wai World would be fun to play. Or even like the not so old AVGN platformer. May be someday...

It would be awesome if Segata Sanshiro came back as the mascot of Sega. I wonder if Segata got put in PxZ2 due to a lot of people watching and commenting on youtube in the last few years.

One of the characters in Shenmue is based on Segata himself. Even voiced by his same actor.

Actually yes, I know almost nothing about Kamen Rider. Though the article was submitted a couple months back.
