*"nary a civilian in sight"

You know, if there ever is going to be a new Metal Slug game, something like this in terms of 2.5D scale would be my best bet given that the series badly needs to modernize IMO (that and maybe caring about its mythos but I digress).

I doubt they would considering what's going on with KOF14 I won't be surprised if that's so, that and if their talk of expanding (non fighter) IPs is a big bluff to make themselves look good.
But anyway, given that I know of this game a couple years ago, I probably should give it a chance; though DEMUL just seems to kind of suck at emulating Atomiswave games on my computer.

Demul needs some powerful hardware to get 60 fps on it, but i also heard that this game itself is not emulated well atm too

Maybe I just have a really good PC but I was using the latest version of Demul at the time (July 2015) and it pretty much ran at a solid 60 and I don't remember any framedrops. If you use older versions of demul the sound cuts out after awhile and the game crashes after like the third level, I think.

Before Metal Slug had close combat, Wolf Fang already did.
And according to the credits of Dolphin Blue, Takushi Hiyamuta was the producer.
Dolphin Blue on DEMUL ran near perfect on my Surface Pro 2, but during big explosion effects, slowdown occurs.
