www.hardcoregaming101.net/tumblepop/tumblepop.htmA goofy, rainbow-colored single screen platformer from Data East, Tumblepop combines two popular arcade titles from the early 90s, Pang and Snow Bros. Also includes reviews of its spiritual sequels, Diet Go-Go and Joe & Mac Returns.

Some nitpicks & comments:
Tumblepop
The arcade version sounds like good quick fun, pick up and play. Need to give it a go some time.
After “pyramids too many.” there’s just a line break, should be a change of paragraph?
“you need to keep pressed B button” -> “you need to keep B button pressed”
“an useless” -> “a useless”
I find it hard to believe that the limits of the Game Boy literally necessitated the dropping of the “world tour” idea from the arcade version. But they obviously tried to rework the gameplay for the platform in many ways, the change away from the world tour idea included (I can see it’d be harder to pull off satisfyingly with lack of colour, smaller screen and less ROM space I’d imagine) and the comparison is interesting, kudos for that. The bosses look fun as well.
Diet Go Go
“the protagonist have to act” -> “the protagonists have to act”
“The objective of the game is to make the floating enemies ricochet around the levels to defeat other enemies, also thanks to the pinball bumpers, that inexplicably can be found everywhere.” The bit about pinball bumpers could be its own sentence. “The objective of the game is to make the floating enemies ricochet around the levels to defeat other enemies. You can also utilize pinball bumpers, that inexplicably can be found everywhere.” (not sure about the comma, or if “utilize” would be a good verb there)
“if the player characters get hit by those don't die instantly” -> “if the player characters get hit by those they don't die instantly”
The premise of the game is pretty weird, it must have been fun to describe and it was fun to read.
Joe & Mac Returns
“The last boss fight is the same one as Tumblepop” probably should be “as in Tumblepop”?

I think you mean "3DS Virtual Console" and not "Wii Virtual Console". Portable console games have only been re-released on 3DS. Also in the arcade version, I think the level-start voice is "Let's clean up!" which works as a stupid vacuum cleaner pun.

They is two bootleg versions of Tumble Pop. Jumping Pop changes the background to anime pictures one per a stage. Changes some sound effects and all the Music. Gets rid of the Tumble pop letters so they is no longer any bonus rounds. The stage clear screen are also removed and replaced with the stage background instead. www.vazcomics.org/mamend/J/jumppop.htmPang Pang (Note screen shots of stage clears are NSFW) You now shoot enemys which traps them into a bubble (like bubble bobble) which you then have to hit them again to send them flying to chain up combos this makes the game harder. All stage backgrounds are new. All enemy sprites have been redrawn expect a few bosses. Most of the powers up and scoring items including the bonus round letter have been redrawn. New super gun power up and a flying cloud power up that makes all map invisible but touching anything instantly kills it. New sound effects. New music is terrible and most of the time is We wish you a merry Christmas for some reason. Stage clear pictures have been replaced with badly digitized porn pics. www.vazcomics.org/mamend/P/pangpang.htmThe Final boss in the Data East Neo Geo game Spinmaster is the same final boss as Tumble Pop and Joe and Mac Returns has. www.vazcomics.org/mamend/S/spinmast.htm

In 20 years I never could understand what they were saying... And yes that "Wii" was a mistake. Thanks! It was certainly funnier to pick it apart than to actually play, it's that stupid. Tumble Pop is from my favorite games and one of the reasons I love Data East. I also like its spiritual, overlooked sequels. From the other hand, the Game Boy port of Tumble Pop while not a bad game it's not as good as the original arcade game, mostly because it's so freaking slow even for Game Boy's standards.

There's a typo in the typo fix, it now says "n useless". Nice to see the fixes get applied so quickly!

I was wondering if the Mad Doctor in these games has any relation with the evil scientist from Crude Buster.
