It was also heavily riffing on Twin Peaks there.

The 360 version of Deadly Premonition is the one I played, so I can't speak for other versions. There is a part near the end that got a lot of probably well deserved criticism for being transphobic, though to me at least it didn't feel mean spirited. I won't go too into detail for spoiler's sake in this thread, but I remember reading an interview with Swery awhile back where he talked about how he was inspired by one of his friends coming out as a trans woman. Like you, I don't get the feeling that he was trying to be mean-spirited... but it's still kind of painfully executed, really.

I guess I'll repost the unanswered question here, because I want to make an iTunes review, but I really don't know if I can nominate those games or if I should stick with Painkiller, lol I also wanted to ask: Is it appropriate to nominate games like Demonophobia or Corpse Party? On one side, they really make for an interesting topic of discussion, with one being anonymously made cult hit, and the other as possibly the first attempt at making horror game entirely in RPG Maker, but on the other, they have lots of incredibly graphic gore (and not in an "over-the-top" way, but in a really nasty and horrifying one) and sometimes rather questionable content (there's some underage nudity in Demonophobia and kids dying horribly in Corpse Party).

I think the only thing preventing a game from being nominated is accessibility. If you nominate, say, a CDi game, there's no guarantee the hosts are even going to be able to play it. (Dead or Alive 3 was almost postponed to a much-later episode because few of the hosts have original XBoxes.)

My general rule is to let people put up three games for nomination on our list, so as long as you haven't gone over that number, I'd say it'd be all right. The gore, while not ideal for me, would at least be a discussion point.

Hi. I just have a quick question. I previously sent a request to review 3 games on Twitter before writing a 5-star review on Stitcher to specifically request Sonic 2006. Is that against the rules? I have yet to receive a Twitter reply.

I have yet to receive a Twitter reply. No it's not against the rules. I've seen your Stitcher nomination and I thought I added it. Sorry for the delay. We just did one of your games though, it should be in episode 31 or 32. To be honest, I'm kinda overwhelmed by the response we've gotten so far. I just wasn't prepared for it. There are a lot of things to keep track of now and I'm still adjusting to it. But rest assured, we will find a way to keep all of my craaaazy promises.

Since it is a snow day, I figured I should fire up the Dreamcast and give Blue Stinger a shot. I understand now all the hatred towards Eliot. What a terrible character. Dogs Bower all the way.

OK, I'll keep that in mind, thank you ^^ Also, on design of the site - the "Podcasts" page pretty much murders my browser (Chromium, yap) - it stops responding to stuff, the tab isn't closing, and I have to manually reboot it via task manager. It may be related to the fact that my PC is indeed an outdated one, but considering how minimalistic the site is in general, how well it works on any other page, and how it's, well, the only page on the web that gives me this effect, I suggest the specs aren't the case. I think the Stitcher plugin is an "offender" here - from the looks of it, the browser tries to load every plugin for every episode at once, and since there are, well, 30+ of them, the RAM goes nuts

Yeah, it might be wise to figure out some way to prevent those from loading in page until a link is clicked, because I am having the same problem.

Hey! Ape Escape was a good proof of concept for a game that made full use of the dual analogue sticks. It had that going for it too.

Oh nah, I think the placement was pretty fair, in addition to being scientifically accurate. I just thought that was something important about it that didn't really get mentioned. All the other analogue controls (that I'm aware of) to that point had been single stick. Sony set a standard with the dual sticks that stands today, and AE was the first game to make use of the second stick.

Excuse my ignorance but is it alright to request for a game to be ranked which is currently not on the list of unranked games? I requested Streets of Rage 2 via Stitcher and The Curse of Monkey Island via itunes, along with a 5 star review obviously.
