According to Joystiq, "The muff doesn't sit well with TurboGrafx-16 fans who have already suffered through two Hudson VC blunders: a broken Military Madness and a pricey R-Type."
How'd they screw up Military Madness?

When you to scroll the screen in Military Madness the music siezes up while doing so and the scrolling is jerky.
I don't know why anyone would complain about R-Type's price though, $8 is pretty fair for a game that awesome.

If they cannot do so much as emulate a 16-bit game properly then they shouldn't expect us to pay for it. The main reason people are upset I think is that it costs half as much in Japan (400 points I think). But isn't the Japanese R-Type only half as long?

Yes, they have to get the original R-Type I and II, which together form the whole game.

I was just about to ask that. Is the US R-Type for the VC the complete version?

I would think the VC games in the US are taken from the actual US games that were released. It should be the full game then.

When you to scroll the screen in Military Madness the music siezes up while doing so and the scrolling is jerky. While I can see that being annoying, in a turn-based strategy game that probably won't be much of an issue.

My thoughts precisely... it isn't enough of a debilitating handicap that it totally fecks up the game, is it? I just might get it anyway, seeing as how A. It's one of the VERY few strategy games on Earth that I'm fond of, and 2. I don't own it in HuCard form... and something tells me it's kinda rare to snag.

I noticed it in Military Madness VC but honestly it isn't much of a deal. You don't need to scroll frequently due to you needing to keep most of your units on one screen and it doesn't seize up for more than a second. I think this is just people being picky honestly. I was amazed with the depth of the game considering I've never played it but still found the strategy in the game well-implemented with position heavily relying on terrain .

Complete for $25-$30, which isn't *too* terrible.
Not like Gunhed which is nearly $50 complete.

Just an update on an old thread here but Nintendo released a patch for Military Madness. Just go to the VC Store and click on Account Activity. Click on Military Madness and it will give you an option to download the patch for 0 points. Do it and your game will be as good as it was on the ol T-16!

Neat. That's what I like about all the new-gen consoles. Any mistakes made can be corrected with a quick patch.
