There are actually very few soundtracks that were composed specifically for OPL3, in most cases the SB version is just OPL2 or at best OPL2 in stereo. Even if it says 'supports SB Pro' on the box, it still doesn't mean the game actually utilizes the OPL3 chip in any particular way.
For impressive OPL2 soundtracks I would look into the following areas:
- Adlib tracking scene: this includes many demos and also a few games
- Korean DOS games/demos have often pretty awesome Adlib music
- Japanese PC-98 to DOS ports
- Anything by Stéphane Picq and Rob Hubbard - Arcade games that use that chip
Let me know if you want me to post a few examples.

Thanks, I have a huge list already which I've posted (minus PC-98 and Arcade and I haven't gone through the mobygames list yet) at the GOG forums hoping someone there could help: www.gog.com/forum/general/help_me_sort_out_the_opl3ymf262_games_from_this_list/page1Arcade (YM3812): S.P.Y.: Special Projecy Y (ARC), Rollergames (ARC), Haunted Castle (ARC), Street Smart (ARC), SAR: Search And Rescue (ARC), P.O.W.: Prisoners of War (ARC), Zero Team (ARC), Prehistoric Isle in 1930 (ARC), Super Real Darwin (ARC), Ikari III, Hellfire, Terra Force, Truxton, Raiden, Demon's World, Twin Cobra, Out Zone, Battlantis, Dynamite Duke, Sky Shark, Rygar, Rack 'em Up, Snow Bros, Toki, Wardner, Rally Bike, Crazy Climber 2 YM2203+YM3812 combo: Sly Spy, Gondomania, Heavy Barrel, Bad Dudes, Act Fancer, Robocop: TFoLE, The Real Ghostbusters YM2203+YM2608: Zeliard (though it doesn't really sound like it uses them well?) YMF262: Deroon DeroDero (ARC, w/ YMZ280B, sample heavy), Touki Denshou -Angel Eyes- (ARC, w/ YMZ280B, sample heavy), Basically the current vgmrips library and a few more. For PC-98 I know about Puyo Puyo 2 and Miwaku no Chousho. If you have any more JP or Korean suggestions they are very welcome. If you know any PC DOS games that used FM+PCM that would be cool too, I only know about the Adlib Gold Sample Songs pack, and the game Blue Force, which sounds like OPL2 in regards to the FM.

I think you have the Korean Adlib soundtracks pretty well covered with your list. Here are some PC-98 games with SB16 OPL3 support that you might want to have a look at: Kara no Naka no Kotori, Ekudorado, Get!, Miwaku no Chousho (all published by Black Package), Legend of Galactic Heroes 4 EX (Bothtec), Puyo Puyo Tsuu (Compile)
Any game that plays General MIDI via the Windows 9x sound driver technically also has OPL3 support. Whether you will find any particularly good sounding examples in this category is an entirely different story though...
Zero Wing and The Next Space are two pretty good arcade OPL2 soundtracks. Crazy Climber 2, Formation Armed F, and Sky Robo also use the YM3812 in combination with a DAC.

Great list, thanks! Crazy Climber 2 is without DAC from what I can tell, checking vgmrips and a YT upload; is there a different version?
Sky Robo isn't listed on mobygames or gamefaqs, that's odd.

It could be that Crazy Climber 2 uses the DAC for sfx only. VGMRips only lists the sound chips that are actually used by the music, which is not necessarily everything on the arcade board. I think Arcade History is a much more complete source for arcade games, and they also list the sound chips for each game. This is the entry for Sky Robo, a fairly obscure Nichibutsu game: www.arcade-history.com/?n=sky-robo&page=detail&id=11918Have you looked at M1+Bridge front end for doing your research yet? It supports more arcade games than what you find at VGMRips, lists the sound hardware for each game, and even lets you mute sound chips/channels while the music is playing. This is a pretty easy way to determine how (or if) a particular chip is used for the music. You can also filter the game list by hardware, which will probably net you a few more games with OPL2 music.

Thanks, that's a very good site. Only thing missing is being able to search by chip.
I might eventually, but having made lists for let's see.. 10 different chips now (in a very short time) I'm getting really bored with systematically checking every game.
