Some of the things that get the anthropomorphic treatment is pretty weird, like swords or entire countries...
That little yellow toy that leaks stuff when you squeeze it was pretty strange. Someone on here was using it as an avatar a while back.

Was that ever really true or just a myth? You can totally buy used underwear, Tom Green did so in a special once where he went to Japan, I think he bought them at a sex shop, but as far as buying them from an actual "vending machine"? I'm not so sure. Even if it did happen it was probably like a one time thing, hardly something you'd find commonly which is what some people seem to think, the idea is completely hilarious though. |

The 1977 movie Hausu is pretty damn weird, even by Japanese standards. Nobuhiko Obayashi was an experimental director of 8MM shorts for years before he got to opportunity to make a long feature with a major studio's equipment, team and budget, which is why it's so crazy and inventive; pretty much all experimental filmakers are weird, but he actually got to chance to go all the way with it. Most people at Toho were against it, but they eventually let him go ahead because their "normal" movies were no longer making any money any way. Anyway, I don't disagree with you, just to be clear. ...also, Hausu is amazing. |
