I'd just like to point that this game is, in fact, better than Shadow of the Ninja:P

As a fan of NMK I have to say I have been dissapointed by their platform games (this and Legend of Makai). Aaahhh I forgot about Psychic 5! That's a good one.

My thing is I prefer the methodical approach, which is why Shinobi and Rolling Thunder are my favorite series among side-scrollers. Ninja Gaiden has some damn annoying enemies, and Shadow of the Ninja is even worse in that area. Also, the link to access this thread from the article is broken. It's hg101.proboards.com/thread/13602/ninja-crusaders, but the correct URL is hg101.proboards.com/thread/13603/ninja-crusaders

I'm more into all out games like Ninja Spirit and Rygar myself but think that on the Nes, with it's limitations, it is better to go with a more methodical approach. The Ninja Gaiden games are a little bit too much in the middle for me.

Really? Ninja Crusaders or Shadow of the Ninja over the Ninja Gaiden games??? Can't personally disagree more. And I love me some slower paced Shinobi's too.... but a total different kind of beast and incomparable with this game, Ninja Crusaders or Ninja Gaiden.

Much of the "method" in Ninja Crusaders comes from the one hit kills. It makes it similar to a (rather low quality) arcade game. Ninja Gaiden (at least the third one) may also have method in the placement of the enemies (and control really well) but (like Ninja Crusaders) it still feels like a game struggling to be something it cannot be. i.e an arcade game. Now that we have unlimited access to most arcade games, I'd rather play those.

Even the weirder enemies and more complex bosses, if you study them, will behave in predictable ways.

I rented this a few times when I was (much) younger. Didn't like it much at all. Something felt 'off' and low-rent about it.
