This competition is going on since 2003, but I literally discovered about it just yesterday, while looking for covers/remixes of Zuntata's "Daddy Mulk". What I can gather from the rules: Basically musicians have to replay video game music tracks with live instruments (might be a cover, or a re-arrangement, the melody should be recognizable), and each month there is a theme they must adhere to (unless it's a "free" month). They are played on air, on the internet radio 8bitX, and voters can use a special system on the site's Voting page. I don't know nearly as much about video game music, but this sounds interesting! I had no idea that there were so many people playing VGMs on live instruments as opposed to, say, remixing them (OCRemix comes to mind), outside those well-established bands such as The Advantage or Protomen.
