Did you get an advanced copy of the game, or did backers get it early, because this JUST came out.

It looks really cool, but sadly 20$ is just a bit steep.
I'm glad though we finally have another adventure game that's a worthy successor to the Lucasarts classics unlike Broken Age.

Broken Age and Mn9 kinda made me a lot more hesitant on Kickstarters. This game I might check out once discounts and sales come for it-- which I've been doing for a lot of games, lately. Specifically for review?

Yup, the PR folks were sending out keys a couple weeks before the backers and public release. While I think it would have been a nice gesture to send the game out to backers around the same time, sending it to press outlets also keeps things under tighter control, so there's no spoilers or video walkthroughs available by the time the wider public gets it. They really wanted everyone going into this blind, more or less, and I think it really works for the experience. I do regret not backing it myself, since it would've been fun to get my name in the phone book.

A couple of mistakes: -they're busy grieving over the recent death (of) Chuck Edmond -It's not quite perfect, because some tasks technially (technically) do need to be completed before you can do others -Chuck the Planet makes an appearance Also two of the screenshots in the third row at the end were already used in the body of the article.
Sounds good and interesting, I'm glad that it turned out a good game given some recent Kickstarter failures, even I'm no longer much interested in point-and-click adventures.
In that screenshot with the clown's show, I spotted in the crowd Fred, Edna and a Tentacle from Maniac Mansion, Zak, Annie Larris and a Caponian from Zak McKracken... did I miss anybody?[/b][/b]

Yup, the PR folks were sending out keys a couple weeks before the backers and public release. Huh, never thought HG101 would start being considered for new game reviews, but you did make a huge book about classic adventure games, so they must have felt your opinion on the subject to be of high regard. Though as a token of good faith, I would suggest a blurb at the beginning or end of the article stating something like "Review copy provided by publisher", as seen on sites like USGamer: www.usgamer.net/articles/thimbleweed-park-review

We are some PR mailing lists, mostly for indie games. We're too small for most of the big publishers, which is just as well, considering we don't cover too many of them, at least when they're first released. They generally want reviews to come out right after embargo (which in this case, was the game's release date, yesterday), which I usually don't have time to do myself or to coordinate.
From what I've read on the blogs, they blasted this everywhere. They really wanted a lot of coverage, which is probably a good idea since it's being released at a time when there are other larger titles that might otherwise overwhelm it. It also shows that they had faith in the product.
We generally only put up notices whenever there might be a potential conflict of interest, like if the publisher/developer/PR person is a Patreon donor, or has been connected with the site in some way. One of the former contributors here is now working for Sekai Project, for example, so any game we cover by them will have that notice.

On the subject of CoI, where would backing Kickstarter or other crowdfunded games fall under? Going by some Youtube reviewers, they often do mention if they backed the game, especially if their name appears in the credits. This is in relation to whenever I update the classic Mega Man article to include Mighty No.9, since I am in the sea of names. (Though I'm also waiting to see if Capcom develops a tie-in or new title to coincide with the new animated series)

Bought the game yesterday and i have been playing it, all i can say is that it's good, there is no fourth wall at all and i hate the voice acting in this game.
The voice acting is not bad...but it's not good, when hearing the voices all i can think is that some voice actor is just doing a passable job of staring at a paper and reading some lines, it's not incredibly bad but it still sounds so lifeless that it sucks the joy out of the game, i actually had to turn out the voices and the game actually became more fun to play, i swear, the voice acting is so bland it actually sucks the humor out of this game, at least, it did to me.
Again, not a bad game at all, i just think the game is better without voices, am i the only one that thinks that?

The voices are definitely a mixed bag, and some of the voices are better than others. I feel like the two agents are the worst, and their delivery is frequently inconsistent.
Ransome the Clown's voice actor did a great job, though. Good voice for the character and almost never seems flat or out of tone with the context of the scene. Delores and Franklin are generally good as well.

I didn't even expect there to be voices considering MM and ZMcK didn't have voice acting. It might be a little distracting to me to play a game that evokes those titles but has voices, so I might just turn them off by default.

Dolores and Franklin are generally good as well. Yeah, gotta agree with this. It's kind of surprising how bad the main two agents are, seeing as they are, kind of, the main characters for most of the game. Ray is trying to pull off a cynical, dry, no fucks given attitude, but she just sounds incredibly bored/monotone. And Reyes voice clips sound like the first readings of the line by someone with a poor grasp on english. It's very odd when the main character is the worst cast, but I thought the female lead in Broken Age had the exact same problem. I basically played through the game as Dolores and Ransome as much as possible, as they're significantly better. Honestly, every supporting character in the game is great/fantastic in the voice acting department. It's disappointing.
