Ah, nice, I was trawling through Bulbapedia trying to learn about this just a few months ago, and the the level of coverage varied quite a bit (presumably based on whether or not the editors had copies of the games in question).

Oh, I emulated a couple of those last year out of curiosity. They sure are short and simple, even for smartphone standards of today, but I'd totes get a budget released Wario Ware version of this.

It is interesting that the Pokemon Mini screen aspect ratio is the same as the Gameboy Advance one - 3:2. Personally I am very fond of the closer to square ones that Nintendo used for the Nes, Snes and original Gameboy. It gives (almost) equal importance to the horizontal and vertical aspect, which does influence how a game is experienced (and designed). Of course now we are stuck with wiiiide screens.
Also, monochrome pixel-art is the best.

That's not even a typo I genuinely thought the studio was called Juniper (for some reason.) Thanks for catching this, seems like all the other instances have already been corrected.

Perhaps mixed it up with Juniper, the Unova Pokemon Professor (and the only female professor character yet). That price does sound rather high ($60 console and $20 games) given the system's capabilities which feels like TI calculator level. (as that's rather close to what I remember the GBA selling for when it was out at the same time) Halve those sounds more reasonable to me. (I do remember GBA games were, like the full GB line, $30 in the US for full-price games but how much was the system. I'm feeling $80 but maybe it was $100?)

It was $80 for the original and SP GBAs but $100 for the micro. Not surprising that Pokémon Mini was a flop compared to that price.

Pokemon Mini is a horrible name. Everyone I've mentioned this to thought it was a Tamagotchi-like device (that's the Pokemon Pikachu). It's amazing that this is an actual portable system with actual carts by Nintendo and pretty much no one has heard about it *Edit* By the way, you should really consider putting facebook/twitter share links on articles. I wanted to share this article and had to do it manually and the link didn't even embed correctly.

I wanted to share this article and had to do it manually and the link didn't even embed correctly. I think linking it to the Pokemon license at all was a mistake in truth. Calling it the Game Boy Mini (or a completely new name) would have given them much more freedom to develop a wider variety of games. And as mentioned earlier the price point was... not ideal.

*Edit* By the way, you should really consider putting facebook/twitter share links on articles. I wanted to share this article and had to do it manually and the link didn't even embed correctly. We'll be implementing this in the future, but you can also go to the site's Facebook page and share it from there. (Which I now realize I had forgotten to publish...)

Cool. The only problem is you'll have to add everything manually. But any html program should be able to batch paste the facebook/twitter buttons.
