Since it's October now, I guess it's Halloween time. I like candy. I tend to stay away from it as much as I used to, because of Wilford Brimley and his poignant message. But I occasionally get a sweet tooth and need me some good old sugar to decay my teeth even more than the rotten things they already are.
Here's mine: I hate chocolate. It's gross to me. There's supposed to be some type of mild "enhancers" or relatives to cannabinoids in them which I've never felt. Just felt like hocking lugies.
Candy corn is gross. Never has a tradition of sweetness tasted so bland.
Black licorice might be the most disgusting concoction ever to be labeled as "candy" as has ever been thwarted upon the mass public. I assume someone bit into a fennel seed in ancient times and thought it tasted good?
Werther's Originals: The stereotype is true. Old people like these butterscotch atrocities. My pops is pushing 70 and this is his "sweet craving". Aside from his still-but-weird crush of Christina Applegate from " Married With Children".
Now on to my favorites. The best of the best. The shit that makes your teeth tremble and ejaculate at the same time.
Spree: Oh my god, I will eat a whole bag of these sons-of-bitches if I have access. I do like the old "hard" versions but the new "soft and chewys" do just fine. The perfect amalgamation of waxy, tart, and sweet. They kinda look like Super Famicom buttons too.
Sweettarts: Any form will do. There's like a thousand ways they make these things now but they all satisfy that electric pulse when they touch my decalcified grinders. Sour, sweet, and, uh, tart.
Smarties: Are these considered throwaways in trick or treat stashes? Send them all to me. I love that tart chalkiness. I usually have a routine of eating 3 pieces at a time. Yes I'm weird(hence this post). But DON'T YOU EVER get them confused with those other imitation bland things known as "Necco". Those are pure chalk and a substitute for antacid.
Am I weird? Am I the only old person who still likes candy and wishes they could be out on the streets in a few weeks?

I love chewy fruity candy. Stuff like Skittles or Starbursts or Tootsie Rolls (which I guess is chocolate, but then there's also flavored Tootsie Rolls) are like incredible for me. I adore them so much <3
I also enjoy some chocolate stuff from time to time, like 3 Musketeers or Twix or whatnot, but my main thing is non-chocolate stuff.

Wait a second, Smarties aren't candy coated chocolate in the states?
I just googled them, so they're like sweet tarts. In Canada they're called Rockets.
Today I learned something!
Hey, did you Americans know we also pour milk from a bag up here?

Black licorice is nasty. Twizzlers are meh.
Milky Way candy is too bland, but I wouldn't say they're the worst of anything.
My favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Chocolate + peanut butter = perfection. I also like hard candy.

I'm the pickiest eater when it comes to food, but with candy I've got pretty wild tasts. Mostly sour or hot flavors. Shocktarts are great, but I guess they're called Shockers. Luca's Chili Powder and Lime Powder might not be considered candy but I love them as well. Warheads are awesomely great as well. Sour Starburst's aren't sold solo anymore and this upsets me! I can only buy a package that includes half of them as Sour, the rest being Sweet. Sour Patch's are my go to theatre candy. Chili Picante Corn Nuts are wonderful, though I'm also not sure if they're considered candy. Lastly but not least, I miss Butterfinger BB's!!! The only store that still sells them wants to sell me giant ass bag for $5. Highway robbery damn it.

Wait a second, Smarties aren't candy coated chocolate in the states? Yeah, it's messed up. Nobody even wants to know if you eat the red ones last or not. Anyhow, my favorite candy is Swedish Fish. I'm broadly fond of chewy, gummy candies in general, but Swedish Fish are the best of the best. I'm not a huge fan of chocolates, but I am fond of Reese's cups and Snickers. My LEAST favorite candy is black licorice. That stuff is just nasty.

Huh, I don't mind black licorice, I prefer red though.
Nothing's really coming to mind as a candy I vastly prefer over the other, I like a little bit of everything, sweet, sour, chocolate, gummy, you name it.

Any of those sour fruit candies are great. Mike & Ike(shut up)'s Zours candies are amazing, because they manage to be fruity and sour but aren't covered in the little crystals that cover most other sour candies and make your gums ache after a bit. I'm not sure if they even still sell those, but those are good. I like those little gas station dollar bags of candies quite a bit too: apple rings, peach rings, watermelon rings, etc. are all great, sour gummy worms, anything like that. I love the taste of Airheads but they're too sticky and hurt my teeth.
One of my coworkers gave me some candy from Iran called gaz that's quite good. It's kind of a pistachio nougat. I would also whore myself out for matcha KitKats.

I'm in on the sour fruit love and the licorice hate. But I'm not eating candy all that often in general.

I'm more a chocolate person than a candy person. Particularly for dark chocolate with hazelnuts, marzipan, praline, or chopped walnuts and almonds. I could go through a canister of Almond Roca over the course of a day or two. I can handle a few sour gummy worms, gummy bears, and sweet tarts, here and there. But overall, the fact that they're made up of pure sugar and gelatin is a bit much. I used to really like Fun Dip and Pixie Stix as a kid. No more. The one thing I will entertain every so often are the sour lemon, sour cola, and sour Ramune candies. Although I haven't bought a bag for myself in like, 5 years. I'm almost tempted to grab one at the market. Almost. There's Pocky, but that's more of snack than a candy.

There are so many candies I like but I can't just list them all. The ones that make the most for me...
Cadbary Creme/Scream Eggs. THESE ARE THE BEST. But only come out twice a year. Creme ones at Easter and the newer Scream ones at Halloween. Only difference are the color of the creme inside (white for Easter and light green for Halloween, pretty much taste the same.) If it weren't for them being released like this I'd probably be a diabetic today.
Just about anything with caramel. After the eggs this is next in line for my favorite. Twix, Milky Way, Snickers and Rollo's are the most common.
Laffy Taffy. Favorite flavors are banana, grape and cherry.
Jelly Beans. Just about every color I like except black (yuck!) And a bit of a rant. I really wish there was a snack sized bag for regular JB's. Jelly Belly makes these but the bags don't have the flavors the way I like them. Regular ones have bags with servings for 2 or 3 but I usually end up eating more then one serving at a time. That's why I want this.
Aside from black jelly beans there's one candy I despise which is Twizzlers. Seriously, how is it this bad tasting candy continue to be popular?
