I hardly think Castlevania is dead, we just had a cartoon released a month ago and five games during the last console generation. Mind you the quality of the games were subpar at best.. Castlevania as a video game series is probably dead, sure you might get cartoons or pachinko machines, but as far as actual video games go it's dead. Wasn't the first Lords of Shadow generally well regarded and the franchises best selling game? What's bad about it? The whole game is just tedious from the combat to the puzzles to the game's length and you'd never guess it was Castlevania if it wasn't in the title, you never even fucking fight Dracula, it feels very much like someone created a medieval themed God of War clone and slapped Castlevania on top of it, which I guess might be what really happened. What's sad is a God of War flavored Castlevania is not a bad idea per se, I like the actual God of War games a lot, the trouble is Lords of Shadow does a poor job imitating God of War in addition to Castlevania, resulting in a game that's neither fish nor fowl. And what's really sad is I do still plan on playing Lords of Shadow 2 solely out of curiosity since it's likely to be the last game published with "Castlevania" in the title. Anyway, I guess you can add Dead Space to the pile of dead franchises since EA has closed Visceral games.

ReyVGM: And yet, he had little to no involvement in the development of X5, X6, X7 and X8. As much as we would like to believe otherwise, even creative leads are replaceable. He never was the creative lead. I think Capcom just doesn't know what to do with Mega Man, or rather, how to make a product that feels connected to the franchise, will sell and is quality. We know of the cancelled X-reboot, Universe and Legends 3. Likewise with Sega and Streets of Rage, which had seen four atttempts since part 3 got released, but all were cancelled (well, Fighting Force still came out, but wasn't a Streets Of Rage game anymore by that point). Given Capcom actually rebooted Bionic Commando and Strider, I guess if the right developer slapped the right concept for Mega Man on their desks, they'd play along. I just hope it won't coincide with that awful looking new CGI/cartoon series. And isn't Konami pretty much broke and broken? Creative heads gone, money strictly made from Pachinko games, I don't expect them to make much of ANYTHING soon. As for the thread: Ecstatica Bubble Bobble / Rainbow Islands Fatal Fury Art Of Fighting Rushing Beat Age Of Empires Any Lucas Arts franchise that is not Star Wars - Outlaws, Sam & Max, Maniac Mansion, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Loom... Any Sierra franchise, except for maybe King's Quest

I think Capcom just doesn't know what to do with Mega Man, or rather, how to make a product that feels connected to the franchise, will sell and is quality. Capcom needn't look any further than the Mega Man Zero series for direction on a new Mega Man game. Solid gameplay and a decent story that unfolds throughout the game, that's all a new Mega Man game need. And if they're really desperate for story ideas, I suggest they look to the Astro Boy anime series from 2003 to 2007, or the anime Metropolis, for some solid ideas they could borrow. Balanced and fun co-op play of some sort wouldn't hurt either! Any Lucas Arts franchise that is not Star Wars - Outlaws, Sam & Max, Maniac Mansion, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Loom... Any Sierra franchise, except for maybe King's Quest It's a crying shame there isn't a new Police Quest or Space Quest game, or a proper sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors or Full Throttle. I recall reading a developer talk about early, unreleased versions of The Dig as well, including a version that mixed survival-horror elements with point & click puzzles that seemed like it would be a good way to remake the game.

-KillZone Killed in action? Yeah, I was wondering about Killzone, it's been almost 4 years since the last entry and Guerrilla seems to have moved to Horizon Zero Dawn. It's just surprising to think of it as being over since it was Sony's "Halo killer" franchise.

I would love a new Parasite Eve, but it would have to be done right. The 3rd Birthday had fun gameplay, but proved that Square Enix had no idea what to do with Aya and her story. I would suggest a new character and setting and third-person shooter gameplay (T3B) with gun modifications (PE1) and a magic system (PEII). Oh, and the crazy DNA board for abilities and stat enhancements from T3B.

How many times has Streets of Rage been mentioned? Nobody gives a fuck about story ties or transitioning into modern times or whatever. Just make a Genesis color-palletted arcade brawler with Genny synth soundtrack, and the the fans will flock. Someone, somewhere at Sega, is overthinking things. They've been doing that for years.

Streets of Rage died because Sega kept cancelling pitches for a 3D entry. One lead to Fighting Force and I'm sure Spikeout was inspired by their experience.

That was still on the 90s. Sega was and always have been idiotic when it comes to relationships between their international entities.
If they can make a Double Dragon 2 NES sequel, Streets of Rage is ripe.

Command & Conquer, Dune, Gradius, Burnout, Syphon Filter. Since Gabe Logan is dead. Maybe Lian could've been the character they pivot to? Bend's busy with Day's Gone so. New Sony Bend IP man. I know zombies are done to death but at least it has some vehicular elements.

Syphon Filter seems a little on the generic side though, there are people who really think that needs to come back?
Funny how that dev seems like they can only makes game that are a spin on something else though, Syphon Filter was their take on Metal Gear Solid and now Days Gone is their version of Last of Us.
But speaking of Sony, I wonder if Twisted Metal is dead? There was that 2012 one that seemed come and go without much fanfare (I'm guilty of not having played it yet myself as well) so that's probably that, but it actually would be interesting to see what a PS4 Twisted Metal would be like, maybe Twisted Metal could be Sony's "once in a generation" franchise since we had Black on the PS2, the reboot on PS3 and now would be a good time to revive it yet again.
