A bunch of chocolates (including some Ferro Roche, as I always bitch if nobody buys me some for Xmas, haha), a cool hamper my mum made(She's been doing that for the last few years and it's something I always look forward too), a bunch of movie ticket (Including some neat ones that are 2 person with 2 popcorns, drinks and icecremas paid for) and a really cool t-shirt with an armored knight on the front.
I'm pretty happy with what I got.

Books, gift cards, and a really warm scarf my wife made for me. Ready Player One, Revival and The Shining by Stephen King, and Scott Ian's I'm the Man. Really can't wait to dive into I'm the Man. I love reading and hearing about the inner working of how bands form and write and I always enjoy Scott Ian.

Please try to give Ready Player One a fair chance, I read the book when it first came out with no expectations and I liked it, I feel like a lot of the bad buzz going around about the book will unfairly colors people's expectations. Just understand that yeah, there's a lot of nostalgia for the 80s in the book, if you're like me and like the 80s it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I’m looking forward to it on recommendation from a trusted friend. I love the 80s and I was only alive for the last 4 months of the decade. But I was exposed to tons of 80s culture as a kid and teen, a real seminal moment was this Time Life "best of the 80s" music cassette tape collection my dad bought when I was a kid, I listened to those things well into my teens, not to mention all the 80s movies like Goonies and ET I watched as a kid. Then when I was a little older I watched VH1's "I Love The 80s" TV specials which was a pretty good crash course on 80s culture beyond what I was already familiar with. There really is something special about the decade's pop culture, that said I'm not as crazily obsessed with it as Cline is, I like a lot of 70s music and movies, I love the 90s (special affection there since I was, ya know, actually alive during it) and there's even aspects of 00s culture I'm nostalgic for, but at the same time, no recent decade was as consistently great when it comes to pop culture as the 80s, I mean literally everything, from movies to music to games to anime to comics and even novels were firing on all cylinders during the decade.

It was a decade of excess and extreme consumerism. Whats not to love? Owning a pile a VHS tapes to watch, stores filled with wall-to-wall toys, arcades everywhere you looked, fantastic music, women in shoulder pads, and The California Raisins. And its always fun to peruse these to see what we wished for back then. Especially starting on page 438. www.wishbookweb.com/FB/1988_Sears_Wishbook/files/assets/basic-html/page-3.html

Baby Driver is that rare movie that tries to be stylish and fun while featuring a perfectly selected score, and actually works!

Basically the narrative I've heard is that cartoons were basically a dying medium in America before the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit came out and made everyone nostalgic for the golden age of cartoons, while obviously that's probably an oversimplification I don't think objectively anyone would say western animation was in a better place in the 80s than the 90s. One 80s western animated thing I've always had a lot of fondness for though is the movie Heavy Metal, that movie rules. Baby Driver is that rare movie that tries to be stylish and fun while featuring a perfectly selected score, and actually works! It's also the last movie you'll ever see Kevin Spacey in!
