I owned Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for over a year and only just watched it.

No groin related injuries ever. Not even in the begining of my training. Because Maxi never did that repel off the groin, and since I initially learned it by watching his moves I never did it either. Now that I've got my own style, I still never repel off the groin because I think it's pointless and stupid. It's not really off the groin, but more to like... the inside of the thigh... but I still have no reason to do it.
Link to the past is my least favorite Zelda.

My E-mail, Live Tag and AIM name may say bemanisuperstar..........but I'm not a huge fan of any of the games besides the latter Beatmania games.

I don't like Guilty Gear very much.
I don't find Devil May Cry 3 to be much better than 2.

Not exactly scared about it, but i've never played a single Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda or Dark Souls game(should i delete my account now? ). But then, i've never touched Call of Duty or League of Legends either, so maybe that can redeem my guilt a bit.

Wow. 10-year bump! And by "Bumpyroad," of all people -- how apropos! I can't say I'm "afraid" to admit this, per se, but I generally don't because of how beloved these games are. My secret is... I really don't like Ico or Shadow of the Colossus much at all. I wrote a review of Ico on GameFAQs that sums up my thoughts on the game, but I was overly kind toward it in my review because I knew people would rip me a new one if I didn't try to give it the benefit of the doubt. In point of fact, the issues I outline in this review bother me a lot more than I let on: www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/367472-ico/reviews/26962My complaints with Shadow of the Colossus are similarly based on personal pet peeves. I find the emptiness of the world less atmospheric, and more... just empty. It feels like the game designers created a really cool world, but forgot to populate it with anything worthwhile but bosses. And the bosses, while cool-looking, are more frustrating for me to fight than they are fun. I can never get the "feel" for them, and wind up just getting thrown off constantly. Ico is the better game of the two for me, and was good enough that I forced myself to play all the way through it... but not good enough for me to keep it. I wound up selling it to my friend Shane for $1, simply because he refused to accept it for free. Shadow of the Colossus, on the other hand, I just gave to another friend of mine flat-out. I wouldn't accept money. Another secret: as a kid, I bought The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past... and after playing it for a few hours, I found myself bored with it. The dungeons all felt way too "samey" to me, and I just wasn't having fun anymore. So since I was still within the 10-day exchange period at Electronics Boutique (remember that?), I took it back to the store and exchanged it for SNES Lemmings... which I wound up liking better. The guy behind the counter was pretty flabbergasted. He kept asking me if I was ABSOLUTELY SURE I wanted to do this. And I regret nothing. (Though to be fair, if I were to play LttP today, I'm pretty certain I'd love it. In point of fact, though, I haven't played it even once since that day!) EDIT: Ha! Just noticed I posted about Zelda already in this very topic 10 years ago. Ah, memories! -Tom

Wow. 10-year bump! And by "Bumpyroad," of all people -- how apropos! I have to admit, the amount of content which is already on the site is pretty overwhelming to say the least, it's quite hard to come up with something new for me personally(unless you want to talk about some new games, which come out each day, specifically or something), so i just pick an appropriate topic from the list basically-it gets me covered, hope the others don't mind that .

Nintendo is a pretty big gaping hole in my video game knowledge, I've never played Link to the Past or Super Metroid, never even touched 'em.
I have played but have never beaten Super Mario 1-3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Starfox, Starfox 64, Paper Mario and Earthbound, I just can't seem to see Nintendo games through to completion for whatever bizarre reason, the only exception to this are some of the Gamcube entries like Super Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker.
It's a bummer, every time I intend to have a Nintendo marathon and get at least some of them played I wind up putting it off and putting it off, part of the problem is I'm not sure how to play them, do I emulate them or go the more purist route by playing them on a CRT?
If Nintendo does wind up releasing a SNES mini (I missed out on the NES mini unfortunately) I may very well jump on that and finally get stuff like Link to The Past and Super Metroid played.

Just noticed I posted about Zelda already in this very topic 10 years ago. Ah, memories! -Tom You're not alone with regard to Ico & Shadow of the Colossus. I just played through both of them for the first time, recently. While I thought Ico was okay (though it certainly irritated me a lot of the time), I really hated Shadow of the Colossus. It is one of the most aggravating, relentlessly tedious games I can remember playing. Its controls are utter dogshit; they are simultaneously stiff in input, yet loose in execution, so they never feel right. The boss fights also mostly suck; it would take me forever to work out how to beat a certain boss, so I'd sometimes just get fed up and look up the boss strategy on GameFAQs so I could move on. Even once I did figure out what to do, though, I'd need to repeat the process multiple times over, since each boss would swing wildly about for literal minutes on end, causing me to need to let go to regain my stamina over and over again. It's just a bunch of going through the motions over and over, along with a whole bunch of waiting. UGH. At least the music was great.
Anyways, here are some other controversial opinions of mine and/or embarrassing admissions, that I recall: - Mega Man 3 is possibly my least favorite traditional Mega Man. Granted I haven't played 4 or 5 yet, but 3 does not hold a candle to 2 or 7 or 9 or Rockman & Forte as far as I'm concerned - I really was incredibly impressed with Depression Quest. I don't think it gets nearly the credit it deserves, as an interactive experience. - I've tried on multiple occasions to get into Half-Life 2, and I end up putting it down because it feels like a chore to play. I've only ever gotten as far as Ravenholm. I really enjoyed the first Half-Life though. - I still to this day have never played the following games: Chrono Trigger Punch-Out!! Baldur's Gate any Blizzard game that isn't Overwatch any From Software game (no Demon's Souls, no Dark Souls, etc.) any Tom Clancy game (outside of like 5 min of Chaos Theory at a friend's house years ago) any Shining game (Shining Force, etc.) Snatcher Policenauts any Panzer Dragoon game Star Fox 64 (outside of casually playing the first three levels like a decade ago) Final Fantasy Tactics any Battlefield game System Shock 2 (though I have played the first) any Megaten/Persona game any Deus Ex game any Thief game any Dragon Age game any Witcher game any KOTOR game - I don't care for the first Bioshock, while I loved Infinite - Red Dead Redemption is pretty good in some ways, but it has really clunky controls and quite possibly the worst "tutorials" (if you can call them that) that I have ever suffered through in a game. Ugh - I've never really cared that much for Metroidvanias. They can be okay, but I find running through the same 2D areas over and over to be boring. I don't feel the same way about similarly-designed 3D games, though; I love classic Resident Evil and System Shock and Powerslave and the like. - I've never beaten single-player in any Bomberman game. - I'm generally fairly good at video games... but I am awful at any fighting game not named Super Smash Bros. or Nidhogg. That might be part of why it's my least favorite game genre.

OK, I hate to be a jerk, but how much longer does it take to dig through the forum archives for the one thread that happened to have the subject you wanted, as opposed to just making a new one? I mean, the statute on limitations on forum threads should be like... a couple of years, at most. I mean, that's just a whole lot of unneeded effort. It's been 10 years. I think we'll forgive you if you happen to remake a thread. Anyway... I haven't bought any consoles or handhelds since the PS3. That's my shameful secret.

-There's a whole load of revered classics and bucketlist games I still haven't played, despite owning several of them for years.
-I've put an absolutely shameful amount of hours into various F2P games for mobile and PC. Clickers especially are my weakness.
-I enjoyed Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.

Nintendo games, with the exception of Metroid and Super Metroid, do not really appeal to me...... I did not really grow up with them and I simply don't get it why Mario is so beloved......to me, all Mario games (at least the ones are tried) are overrated.

Besides being assigned male at birth, I almost only play girly game genres like Visual Novels, Dating Sims, Adventure Games, Life Sims, RPGs and Survival Horror.

A new thread is way easier to have a discussion in. Seeing these old threads with pages of year old posts is making browsing this forum a pain. Anyway. Cranky rant over.

- I generally enjoy LJN's licensed NES output
- Maybe I'm just bad at them, but I hate bullet hell shooters and feel that anyone who has mastered them has far too much time on their hands
- I've never made it passed just 2-3 levels in any Doom game before losing interest
- I found the Dreamcast to be overrated and am willing to sell mine to any interested party
