Not emulation but I'm not getting any help at the GOG forum and thought I'd ask here.
I get this message trying to boot the game up: "Failed to initialize Direct3D"
Then the game closes. Any ideas?

Some report, there's should be a configuration utility in .exe directory to play with, try different resolutions or 'compatibility' options. Lastly, update your DirectX or reinstall Visual C++ redistributables if you haven't yet.

Xanadu Next works on Windows 10 and GoG advertises that it works on Windows 10. You should contact GoG support. You have paid them, so demand a working product in return. You can also Google it: www.google.com/search?q=xanadu+%22Failed+to+initialize+Direct3D%22There's three suggestions in the first result. I don't think any of them is likely, but trying them might give more useful information. PC Gaming Wiki is a resource you need to get acquainted with when playing PC games and they have a generic troubleshooting guide: pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Troubleshooting_gamesI also recommend reading this: www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.htmlThe lack of any detailed information about the environment you're trying to run the game in and details of what you've already tried will turn (non-paid) technical people away from helping you. Edit: I should also clarify that I'm not avoiding giving specific advice to be rude, but there's no specific advice to give. The game works, the problem is with your setup specifically.

Since this is a game our programmer, Sara, worked on, she should be able to look into the matter directly. If you can, fire up DxDiag, and send an email to support@xseedgames.com with the results, as well as all the specifics of the issue you're having. That email will then get forwarded on to Sara, and hopefully the problem can be identified and resolved in short order.
Sorry for the trouble!

Thanks everyone, I've been busy and playing some other games but I'll look into it when I can.

That's a generic error message, any other information 'details' provided by the system would be helpful in diagnosing the problem. that and simply googling the error message with the game name to see if anyone else is having the same error - per standard procedure
