This thread is for those sequels which are, for whatever reason, much more obscure than their predecessors. The kind of game that makes you go, "wait, that game got a sequel?" Marble Madness 2 is one example. Got a brief test release in 1990, after which Atari withdrew it. There's also Hard n Heavy, the C64 follow-up to Great Giana Sisters which bombed due to a forced title change.
Or how about Fountain of Dreams (1990), the sort-of sequel to Wasteland set in Florida?
Or perhaps you'd like to see Uncle Henry's Playhouse, the sequel to The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour that sold literally 27 copies total?
post more.

For a more recent example, how about Triad Wars, the multiplayer-only sequel to Sleeping Dogs that bombed so hard it didn't even get out of beta and killed the studio?

You may have heard about Tear Ring Saga, the not-Fire Emblem that Fire Emblem creator Shouzou Kaga made for the Playstation after leaving Nintendo. But what about its PS2 sequel, Berwick Saga?

And let's not forget Robbit mon Dieu, the third Jumping Flash game.

Oh, and (fittingly) I almost forgot about Ladystalker and Timestalkers, the sequels to Landstalker.

And let's not forget Robbit mon Dieu, the third Jumping Flash game. Or the fourth, "Pocket Muu Muu," which was specifically released to be played on a PocketStation! -Tom

A couple of people are aware of the First-Person Shooter Blood by Monolith... but a lot of people seem unaware that there was a Blood II.
Probably not a straight example since this is a personal experience, not a general trend, but when I was younger I talked to a guy who thought Sierra's Space Quest was a trilogy. Then I casually mentioned a part of Space Quest 6 I found hilarious. His reaction was literally "S-s-s-Space Quest SIX?!?!" and immediately started wanting more info on 4-5-6. Which I was happy to provide because, you know, Space Quest is the awesome.

Does Jade Cocoon 2 count? I’d say so. Another that comes to mind is Musashi: Samurai Legend. The sequel to Brave Fencer Musashi.

It's not a sequel but I keep forgetting that Call of Duty:United Offensive exists. That game certainly seemed like a sequel more than an expansion pack. As for actual sequels, The Darkness 2, and GTA:London 1969.

Fight Fever a 2D fighting video game for the Neo-Geo had a first and only Korean title official release in the country and had an obscure sequel - The Eye of Typhoon for MS-DOS and 3DO.

Westwood Studios' Dune 2 is one of, if not the biggest foundation stone for the Real Time Strategy genre as we know it, but how many remember they also made a Dune 2000?
There's also Chip's Challenge 2, but it's probably due to the fact that it was released only recently after the author shelved it for a quarter century.

Too bad that they did such a poor job of adjusting it for modern PCs: no proper fullscreen, no joypad support and for a long time it had bullshit DRM that forced you to be online to play the game (the latter has been fixed, thankfully).
