Multi-carts (aka "I'm never gonna clear this backlog now")

So I discussed this on another forum but I wonder if its a safe topic here as well.
Lately, one of my pet interests has been the multi-game cartridge. They've apparently always existed but recently they're... incredibly easy to find and freshly manufactured.
I find this kinda fascinating, and personally I like the existence of these carts. For me they're better than emulation because I get to use real hardware, but they're also more affordable than something like an Everdrive (which are often like eighty dollars or so whereas these multicarts are usually no more than fifty, and sometimes as low as $18). The obvious drawback being that you're stuck with whatever games are on the cart, but...
Well... personally I like being a little limited in my selection.
Personal story: while I do sometimes use emulators, I don't really like them, because I feel like it always becomes more about just having roms rather than playing them, and also when you have thousands of games to choose from, gaming tends to become less about actually focusing (unless you're just inherently interested in one specific title) and more on just "play until the first major difficulty then get bored and look at everything else." By contrast if I'm given hard limits I'm more likely to care about what I'm playing.
Now, to an extent having a multicart can have the same effect--"play for awhile then hit reset and pick something else"--but its not as bad, and on real hardware I'm more likely to stay interested.
Anyway... wondering how safe a subject this is here. I mean I understand if there's concerns re: "advocating piracy" (which is why so far I haven't described any of the multicarts I actually own), but at the same time these things do exist and hopefully are interesting to people besides me.
Thoughts?
