With mini-reproductions of retro systems with game compilations being popular these past few years should Nintendo and other producers of these things make more versions with different games on them. Be pretty sweet. Probably better to have them use mini-cards to change games. Having a small collection of these things would look kind of neat by ones TV.

There technically is, if you want to count the Japanese "Famicom Jump" edition that replaces the lineup with Famicom Jump-related games (I didn't know Dragon Quest was, other than Akira Toriyama's involvement), consequently over half of it is Bandai games.

Maybe, but like with the SNES Classic, they should try to find a must have exclusive. Either something that was cancelled during development or something that might not have a good previous emulation.

Not likely at all and more geared towards the SNES, but it'd be interesting to see officially translated versions of games that never left Japan. I suspect that on the Japanese side, these are also games that didn't have huge runs and are otherwise rare. Stick 4 on a system, throw in a little fun filler and charge $60.

This is why a cartridge slot or online support would've been good. Not that it's hard to just add more games to it instead of buying more stuff you don't need.

Yeah, I would like more games on mine, but I do not want to buy another one. An sd card interface would be nice. He’ll, Ive got an ATGames portable Atari 2600 that’s designed to put more ROMs on it! They even encourage it. I need to get mine hacked (I actually have a famicom mini) because this thing has the most low-common-denominator games on it for mass appeal, but it’s all stuff I’ve played a hundred times before. On the upside, the famicom mini actually contains the superior disk versions of Zelda, Metroid and Castlevania.

It's not really, but Yuji Horii actually worked for Jump, too, writing a videogame supplement along with many other young game designers early in his career, as well as writing scripts for manga on a few occasions. And Jump did publish the first and most popular Dragon Quest manga, Dai no Daibouken. Besides, it needed to have at least one good game on there. EDIT - I agree it'd be nice if there was legit way to add more games, like upgrade packs or something.

Isn't it easy enough with the current hacks to plug a microSD card reader into the back?
I read something somewhere about someone even releasing a proper cartridge port that plugs into the unit's USB port, though I haven't seen any pictures yet.

Isn't the whole point of those things to do things legally? Otherwise regular PC-based emulation is the clear winner. So it'd be nice if there was an official way to add games.

I agree pc emulation is technically the winner here. Especially since I’ve noticed The sound emulation on the famicom mini is somewhat off.
Like toei said—legal would be nice, especially since it’s getting tougher to find ROMs thanks to all the legal action. If Nintendo released one with online capabilities or an sd card reader, I’d bite.
Have you guys seen the Genesis one on the horizon? It’s got a cart port. And it’s not by ATGames!

I don't think it's a functional cart port.

I don't think it's a functional cart port. Oops, my bad. I read “cart port “and ran with it.

If it was possible to have it add on to the existing NES mini, I'd say yes. Otherwise, no. I'd really rather not have to have a 2nd separate mini NES console.
And frankly if they were gonna do this. I'd prefer an expansion for the mini SNES, I can't really think of many more NES games that would cause me to part with cash (As the only one I had access to as a kid was the one my cousins owned, who lived in a different state and I only visited once a year at Christmas...and even then they only had the Super Mario/Duck Hunt cart and, strangely, Journey to Silius) but there's still a metric ton of SNES games I'd love to have access too (at least, access too legally and without paying scumbag reseller rates)
