Onion Games did translate Dandy Dungeon themselves but to translate something of Moon's scope probably daunting.
A theory, ASCII had plans to localize the game from way back. You don't suppose they have a build of the game in English already or the script for them to program to the Switch port?

It's possible indeed! There are so many questions about how this came to be, and how it's going to unfold. But man, it's exciting stuff! My only hope/concern is that whoever's handling it does the Japanese text justice, and doesn't edit any of the game's more controversial content -- but I think we're probably safe on both counts, given the modern state of video game localization and the relatively minor level of potentially alterable content. So I'm content to just sit back and wait for news on this one! And I really can't wait to read reviews of this game once it's released. I genuinely feel like this has the potential to become a true cult classic in the English-speaking world, as it has been in Japan. And reviews are going to be really fun to read/watch, especially from those who go into it blind -- it'll be like reviews of Space Channel 5 back in the day, when no one was quite sure what to make of the game, but everyone knew it was something special. -Tom

He's a very impressively talented guy.
The cool thing about Rule of Rose is unlike practically every other horror game out there the creepiest and most fucked up things are all implied, left to your imagination and not immediately obvious, the kind of thing you piece together and only realize after the fact.
I can't think of another horror game with as subtle an approach, on top of how competently unique the game's overall atmosphere is.
It really is a shame the combat can be a real pain, even by old survival horror standards, because other than that I think it's one of the more brilliant games I've ever played.

gematsu.com/2019/09/onion-games-interview-with-moon-writer-yoshiro-kimura-at-tgs-2019Interview with Kimura about Moon. Plenty of fascinating background information about the game and his view on the industry. I'll paraphrase the highlights about this port in particular. - No other platforms planned. Thought about PS and XBOX but comfortable with Switch. - A friend of the company from US is translating the game, same one who helped with dandy Dungeon. So that would mean Tim Rogers. - The game is untouched in difficulty and content. - 4:3 aspect ratio - Moon discs are in stereo over mono (confirmed all music is intact?) - The translation is ongoing, "coming Soon" really means when ready. - Not interested in a sequel, Kimura doesn't want to do sequels for anything. Interested in another RPG after playing Undertale. Toby and him became friends. - Won't do crowdfunding for future titles. Deemed it impossible because he isn't a famous creator.

That entire interview gives a very, very good idea of Kimura-san's personality. He's a decidedly unique man, and his answers definitely reflect that! Good to see not much has changed with him, and the answers he gave are extremely encouraging. Really excited for this!

This interview's definitely raised my interested in the game. His anti-sequel stance is refreshing in 2019, when everything is just *expected* to turn into a franchise by default, and I like how he talks about translation as well (yes, translation is difficult and the text needs to be interesting for people who play it in the translated language, but turning "onigiri" to "donuts" in an attempt to remove the original cultural context is some bullshit).

Yeah, a Moon sequel just wouldn't work -- besides which, it already has a TON of spiritual sequels, in the forms of Chulip, Giftpia, Chibi Robo, Captain Rainbow, Endnesia, and Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupee Land. Only one of THOSE games (which Kimura-san had nothing to do with) ever got any sequels -- Chibi-Robo. And we all know how those turned out! -Tom

I got an Amiibo out of it and he edges closer and closer to Smash Bros playable if he's a Mii costume. I enjoyed the Chibi-Robo sequels (yes even Zip Lash) but nothing quite matched the original Gamecube game. The 2nd Japan only DS game (which people will know by as Clean Sweep) is the only direct sequel following Jenny all grown up with a kid. Completely disappointed by Nintendo not localizing that one. I imported the game but I haven't been doing fan-patches for DS games.

Yeah, I've been told I should play that one. That's actually the only one I HAVEN'T played -- the first DS sequel was disappointing, and Zip Lash was just OK. (I really just bought Zip Lash for the Amiibo myself!)

I'm convinced Zip Lash was just a pitch for Smash Bros to strengthen up how he would play in 2D. I enjoy his whip moves it is just too bad they sacrificed so much in other areas. Should made him platform in a house like a successor to Clockwork Knight.

I can't get the game to emulate properly and my old PSX no longer works. Needless to say, I'm really excited! This is really good news.

I hope the oficial english translation of Moon: Remix RPG Adventure goes smoothly. Many others tried to make a fan translation but failed in doing so...

Had good debut sales so far. Took top spot for eShop charts. The charts are based on weekly data, so games that are on sale tend to reach the charts with ease so it is nice to see a debut release like Moon show up.
