We've been working on this for the better part of two years(more than that if you include a failed attempt at the oooooooooold PC version...), so hopefully you all enjoy. Patch info is in the youtube link, still waiting on RHDN to go live with it.

Thanks for this! It's one of those crazy popular games in Japan that nobody knows about here and I've always wanted to give it a go. Guess I can now!

Fantastic work! I've been seeing all the Sega Saturn facebook pages go wild over this patch. Looking forward to giving it a go.

I wish my retro game store in town has a copy, they have 2 Saturn and 3/4 Dreamcast but not the first. Don't really like working with fan translations or emulators, but thank you for the hard work of getting these games in English. I hope Sega makes official English ports some day (which is likely the Dreamcast or PC versions for console).

I usually see second hand copies (and JP second hand stuff is almost always in pristine condition) of the original Saturn releases of Sakura Wars 1 and 2 and the Dreamcast originals of 3 and 4 go for like 10-20 bucks. 1 seems a bit rarer, but still gets listet often enough.

Of course, but I was disappointed they almost got all of them in stock. Maybe I'll give it another search next time. If I go online for it I"ll wait until after the holidays. I already spent a lot.

I've been curious about that series forever. The fact that it's Sega and RED and the SRPG aspect are enticing, while the dating sim/VN aspect, not so much. With this I guess I can finally see what it's all about.

You are in the VN part at least 2/3rds of and only have one or two short SRPG battles of a chapter in those games. The SRPG-gameplay is also pretty basic and a bit boring until SW3.

Are the VN parts primarily about romance? They are foremost about advancing the narrative and getting to know the cast. Mostly the all girl main one. You have a lot of opportunities to try to romance them, sure. But you don't have to go down that route. Have you played any of the later Persona games? It's kind of like the Social Links there, more about socialising and getting to know the character and secondary about (possibly) making one of them fall in love with you. They are super chaste too, if fanservice should worry you.

kaoru Nah, I'm not worried about fanservice, just whether I can get into the writing or not, if it's primarily a VN. I'll just have to try it for myself and see.

Are the VN parts primarily about romance? Romance and responding "correctly" will net you bonus stats and affinity, when you get to the strategy part of the game, from what I remember. There are conditions to unlock combination special attacks, depending on which heroine is being showcased for the chapter/episode. It's an interesting game to playthrough once. Quite easy and straightforward.

Good to see another major Japanese game knocked off the list. Kudos to CJ and the team!
