Overall a meh decade for video games, it will not be missed! Besides a few really good games, overall this was a meh decade for the industry, as it created numerous scandals and even hurt gaming in some cases.
What are your thoughts?

Just that I wish people would stop rushing to judge the whole decade when it hasn't even ended yet, especially youtubers. You get a lot of shit takes with a lack of perspective.
I didn't play a lot of modern games personally, being more of a retro gamer. I can just say that some of the more popular games are either way too long, too self serious and/or too on rails challenge-wise for me to enjoy.

The world is ending and gamers are absolute shite. That was less great . But I guess we got Soulsborne, the later two Witchers, and I discovered Monster Hunter and Resident Evil for myself. That was nice.

How can anyone possibly evaluate the decade negatively? Sure, there are some customer unfriendly trends that nobody wishes had happened, but if you look at the sheer amount of quality games that come out these days, it's insane. The range of experiences that came out the last ten years means that no matter what kind of gamer you are, you had way, way too much to choose from. If anything, the main downside to the 10's was that there was too much good stuff coming out.

On the business end, it was really bad, with lootboxes, microtransactions, pay to win, and other shady business models. AAA games were, for the most part, unpolished, but there are always exceptions. Overall, we did have a lot of good games in this decade, like Witcher 2 & 3, GTA V, RE2, Ion Fury, Sekiro, and many many more.

These are issues that affect certain companies and platforms more than others. There are certainly high profile examples of those things dragging down mainstream games, but they are a much bigger problem with mobile games. I can't remember the exact point that consumable IAP became allowed by Apple, but the moment it was, consumables completely upended the entire iOS games market. That might have actually been around 2010/2011 (definitely after 2009) and like so many awful things was apparently an "innovation" pushed by Facebook. Even some games that were re-released on Switch without microtransactions would still have the vestiges of that design infecting them.
A big positive was the rise of digital downloads. The entire boom in indie games is driven entirely by that especially with console platforms no longer having size restrictions for downloads. This was also probably a very good thing for GOG since the supply of new Old Games seemed to dry up quite a bit; almost 50% of their catalog is less than 4 years old! A lot of games became multiplatform releases when they might not have in the past. It also helped small and even regular sized publishers put out Japanese games that might not have justified the cost of physical media but seemed less risky when not dealing with actual inventory. Nintendo's increased willingness to work with teensy publishers was a good change too.
Nintendo floundered the transition from the Wii to Wii U and DS to 3DS although the 3DS recovered. For a platform that gets so much flak, Nintendo put out a lot of great games for the Wii U. The Deluxe Edition pack-in Nintendo Land is still one of my all time favorites particularly Donkey Kong Crash Course. That's one of the games there that could be ported to Switch without issue, and I'd love to see an expanded take on the game. The 3DS got a little bit of a second lease on life with the 2DS only to totally flame out in the end albeit way after anyone would have thought possible. Of course the Switch is doing very well. I do find it to be way too staid in UI and lacking in amenities that were standard on earlier platforms—the lack of a proper play log is still mindboggling—but the exclusives have been great, there's been plenty of 3rd party support and the indie scene is very strong.

All the Classic Mini systems, NES, SNES, Playstation, Genesis, alone make this a happy decade for me. And still looking to get the Neo Geo Mini/Arcade Stick, and the Turbografx Mini/PC-Engine Mini (already pre-ordered!).
If anything, I'm pretty happy with how open and accessible many games are, whether in a web browser or through fan translation.
Currently looking into the possibility of a Taito Viewlix Diamond Black arcade cabinet, for a home arcade set-up. For the interest of space, I think I would prefer one arcade cabinet that can play a back catalogue of MAME, rather than do the whole Arcade 1-Up collecting that I've been seeing on social media. If that doesn't signify positive progress for this past decade.
Monster Hunter World, Gran Turismo Sport, Ace Combat 7, and Breath of the Wild has really impressed me. As video gaming goes, I'm overwhelmed at the sheer number of games, and what I may have to wait until retirement of my full-time job to catch up on.
I think the only sad thing for me is how dead Konami has become.

To be even more pedantic, if you look at it, calendar-wise, there is no year 0, sure, but the term 'decade' is a construct separate from the gregorian calendar and refers to any period of ten years. The current system we as a society use is to split up decades by the third digit of the year, not to count decades as in relation to the start of the gregorian calendar. You wouldn't talk about the best games of the period 1991-2000, you would talk about the best games of the 90's, for example.

Year 0 is the first year in astronomical year numbering (and all Buddhist and Hindu calendars apparently) and most people categorize decades on that basis.

The PS4 and the 3DS are some of my favorite console/handhelds ever, so this decade certainly delivered those...
The rise of mobile gaming concerned me though, and I’m sad some of my favorite games (Castlevania, Suikoden..) died. Others absolutely blossomed in the west (Dragon Quest, Yakuza...) which was very cool and surprising to see.
The way I play games did drastically change though, which is to be expected with age, I guess. I play fewer games and I’m more picky, which I feel was a good decision. I don’t have to buy EVERYTHING anymore. If I own 5+ Tales of... games that I have yet to play, maybe I shouldn’t buy any more from that series period...
