On the company's Japanese website, it's been revealed the service will soon host titles that once appeared on both the MSX and Neo Geo.
Eggy and Aleste will be the premiere MSX titles on Virtual Console, both priced at 800 Wii Points a piece ($8). Neither has been confirmed for a US release, but we'd anticipate hearing something soon. www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3157444I hope Nintendo grows some balls and brings the MSX downloads to the USA. And Neo-Geo to the VC? That's a surprise, I sort of expected that to be on Xbox Live Arcade or something. It's good to see Nintendo reaching out for a more systems.

How many MSX games are done in readable English besides arcade games?

Well the Metal Gear games for the MSX were translated for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence so it is possible they could include them. I really don't actually think we'll be getting any MSX games here, though, considering they'd have to translate games they have no idea will sell well here. There isn't a gigantic following for MSX games here in the Western World but a very small hardcore group so I don't think it's marketable.

I'm hoping this mean nintendo is getting closer to the ever elusive "Translating games for the virtual console" It's good news the MSX is coming, I hope it's not just something for like, the Japanese VC

SNK jumped ship? Or Sony just decided they had to go even farther with their anal-retentiveness about 2D?
Personally I hope that Nintendo has the guts to put out untranslated MSX games on the VC, if translating's a problem.
And why Sega CD? last thing I knew flash cards were a gig at best, and CDs can be 800 megs, which means expensive games and more expense trying to afford space for the CD images.

I'd still like to see some games like SonicCD or popful mail on the VC

Today's technology is too expensive for that, unless they opted for DVD-RWs or a hard drive.

Sega CD games are only big because of FMV or the Audio. All of which can be compressed to a small size with today's compression techniques.
Remember Resident Evil 2 for the N64?
Also, Nintendo DID announce last year that Sega CD and Turbografx CD were going to be included, but I guess they are first releasing the really old stuff for the non CD systems and leave the CD stuff for a near future when there are even bigger Memory Cards to hold them.

Hell, if they put even a little bit of work, you can easily compress those CD games into small packages - remember, most of the games back then were filled with redbook audio, which can easily be made into much smaller compressed files.

Speaking of which, how's the Wii's synth chip?

I like the idea of Turbo CD games coming much better than Sega CD games. Not that I don't like some games on the Sega CD but there are so many more classics for the Turbo CD.

I agree. I can't think of any games that I liked on the Sega CD. No, not even Sonic CD.
