Thank you once again for a great thread dsparil . I am a little disappointed we've seen some drop off in participation from long-term users over the last year. Of course I understand life gets in the way and people move on, so I will say to any lapsed users that I hope everything is well and all the best. To those of use still here, Happy New Year, looking forward to seeing what you all post in this years thread.

Thanks for compiling these dsparil -it seems like a lot of work. This thread does a great job of motivating me to actually finish the games I start! Getting a silver for most games completed seems kind of cheap considering the lion's share of the games I play are short 8 and 16 bit titles but hey, I'll take it It does make me think I should broaden my horizons a bit though!

Thanks! It's always nice to hear that this actually helps people in some way. As for participation, the number of games is down by about 20%, but total time is only down 10%. I was playing a lot of shooters in 2022 which skewed the number I think. For user participation, it is a bit smaller, but we've also had a new person and a returning person. Some of the people that used to post in earlier years still lurk at least on occasion so feel free to pop in.

Aye your work is very appreciated dsparil organizing this is no mean feat and you've done it consistently for 3 years now. If I could throw a donation your way I would!
Thanks to everyone else too. I often see mention of a game reminding me I need to try it, or has given me a different perspective on a title I wouldn't have have considered before. I always like checking this thread out all the time.

Thanks as always dsparil. Always neat to see what everyone has played over the year. Helps me remember too! Interesting that there was so little overlap this year. Not to mention no one claimed Baldur's Gate 3 even!

I'm still baffled how none of you played Elden Ring or Armored Core VI.

Yeah, it's not really baffling if you look at the platform charts around here. As I've mentioned, though, we do have people here playing those games, just not participating in the challenge.

I found a cheaper alternative you see: Frankly I have to be in a certain mood for Souls likes and these days I've grown allergic to open world stuff. Maybe someday. AC6 however definitely happening this year.

AC6 however definitely happening this year. Yeah, fair. Elden Ring is one of the best open world games ever made and it's amazing how From knocked it out of the park on their first try... but it's still an open world game. I will be interested in how you find AC6. I loved it, but the game is very divisive among fans of older Armored Core games.

Heck that's been going on clear back with AC4 from what I hear. Like one of the people I listen to on youtube put it like "In the former games you played the mech pilot, AC4 and onward you more play as the mech" which providing its good action sounds fine to me. Much as I like the customization I usually just find a niche and stick with that so if there is less depth there I'm not too worried.
I just ordered myself a PS4 Pro so when that gets here I think I'll be picking up AC6 too. Sounds good right about now.

I mean yeah, AC fans often like to tout the series being much more hardcore than it actually is. There's certainly a lot of depth you can engage in with the customization, but in pretty much every entry you can get by just fine with a generalist build you upgrade every now and then. There also always some weapons and parts that are just much better than anything else.
