Apparently they can't decide to release it at retail or as a download for the Arcade Service.
Personally I couldn't care less, but I think that it would earn them more money to have it as a download considering most people don't buy shmups at retail anymore.
At least as a download they save spending money on boxes and such.

Easy or hard, people don't buy them like they used to.
So I'd rather have them release it as a download, not lose money and continue releasing them on consoles than to release it at retail and lose money due to low sales.
Besides, for most casual gamers it's "cool" to play old school games on consoles as long as it's offered as a download.
At least what most of the casual gamers I know think.

This would be cool if it actually happens. I thought Ubisoft was porting Senko No Ronde to America but that so far is just a rumor.

I'd be really pissed if this came out on the Live Arcade but didn't make it to the US.

Only shmups I've seen on UK shelves recently are used copies of R-Type Final and Nanostray. I'd pay to d/l Raiden IV, I haven't played Raiden for ages.

Considering we haven't had a commercial release of a Raiden game in the western world since Raiden Trad on the PSX, this game will come with a great welcome in any form.

You have to surrender and buy yourself a new computer man I finally upgraded mine after 6 years. I had a 600mhz Celeron since 2000 and I bought a 3.2 ghz P4 last month. Needless to say there isn't anything I can't emulate at a fast speed now

rey: He's not talking about his computer's processing prowess, but rather the version of MAME he's using. I need to upgrade too as the MAME version I have now seems incapable of running any Raiden-releated roms that exist the original game. Considering we haven't had a commercial release of a Raiden game in the western world since Raiden Trad on the PSX, this game will come with a great welcome in any form. As the resident Seibu Kaihatsu fan I have to speak up here, the PSX game is Raiden Project (Raidens I and II on one disk). Raiden Trad is the SNES/Genesis port of the original Raiden. Both Raiden Fighters games and Viper Phase-1 did get US arcade releases. The most interesting US Raiden release though is probably the PC Raiden II port. This got re-released by Interplay in 1998 (along with Fatal Fury 3, Battle Arena Toshinden 2, Samurai Shodown 2 and several others).
