I was thinking about getting a flashcard for a while. I'm sick of not being able to play old Gameboy (Color) games on my DS, and I want to remedy that. You're gonna need the GoombaColor emulator for GBA, running it on the DS. Gameboy Color's cart architecture is not the same as GBA's or DS's, that's why. I run a Game Gear/Master System, Gameboy and Gameboy Color emulators on my GBA.

The r4ds is a very worthwhile purchase, I'm more than happy with mine. DoomDS is also freaking sweet! What about DS-X? It's 4 Gigs. I'm pretty sure R4 will support 4 gig micro-sd cards. Plus I don't like the look of the USB interface on it, looks shabby in my opinion...

Actually, it is pretty emulatable. 2D games have been working on those two for quite some time.

the DS is unemulateable think about it for a second and you'll know why I have no idea what you mean. So, tell me, what is there about DS that couldn't be emulated, let's say on PC, in a way or the other?

I guess it could be hard to use since you'd have to use your mouse to emulate the touch screen but would be using a keyboard/gamepad to emulate the DS controls. So whereas most DS games that use both control methods would assume you are controlling the game holding it with both hands and darting your finger to the touchscreen every so often, on a PC this would be very awkward. But it would work fine for games that use one control method or another.

In theory, DS is emulateable. Making a DS emulator that plays fluently DS-feature-heavy games is a different story.

you can't play something like feel the magic on a PC, Even NSMB would be rough.

It's emulatable, but playable is a different story: just look at the N64. It's awkward as hell to assign keys to all those buttons, especially the Z trigger.

isn't a big part of emulation playability?

Actually, no. There's the Ultra 64 approach, which made games playable fast, but the emulator was so inaccurate that it takes years to clean up. Then there's the MAME approach, which is more about preserving information about the machines, and that the hundreds of thousands of games made playable are just a side effect.
I don't doubt that most games will be playable, since the touch-screen could just be emulated via mouse.
