^ I read about that strange password (comes from Rondo apparently?) that gives you 99 luck. It sounds like that wasn't your first challenge run. Can you recommend any that were a lot of fun/ a good challenge? I suppose I should play through as Richter and possibly Maria, but she seems glitchy and really bad. Luck Mode is not so much a challenge as a way to completely and utterly ruin the game balance. Like I said above, since Luck governs how much your damage is multiplied when you critical-hit something, you're basically going to be an unstoppable powerhouse by the time you've made it to the Coliseum and met Richter for the first time. I did briefly toy with the idea of an Axe Armor run, where I wore and never removed the Axe Armor, but that quickly came to an end when I fell in the water in the Castle Entrance and couldn't escape without taking off the armor. Sadly, a lot of the challenges I can think of involve items that are not found until at least halfway through the main castle, like the Shield Rod. I suppose it'd be interesting to try fighting Slogra and Gaibon using only the Red Rust sword, but that's not really a thing I relish attempting right now. I did once beat it with fisticuffs. No other gimmicks, well I got to use all my other equip slots. It was a ton of fun.

Yakuza 3. I think it might have the worst ending to anything I have experienced for a long, long while. I am comfortable with the exaggerated melodrama of the series, but that was plain idiocy.

It's not like SotN has much balance to begin with. I had most bosses do 1 damage to me on my first run halfway through, without really powerleveling or anything.

Just finished Season 2 of the Walking Dead. That was something else altogether now. It's strange to hear people peg this one below the 1st, because I think I love this one more. There's just too many powerful moments in this that the 1st season can't match. The decisions don't feel as outright black and white, like in the 1st season, and overall while the story might not be as grand as the 1st I feel the story is a lot more personal in this season, which I love. It's more about how people react to your decisions than if your decisions ultimately help you achieve your goal. It's 6 in the morning and the game just plowed through me at the very end. Heck, I can 100% truthfully claim I got teary in the last chapter. Also, characters in this were alot more likable than in the first game. Bonnie, Luke, and Jane were really cool to get to know. And Carver was a really cool villain, someone who could really get underneath your skin. I cannot wait for season 3.

I beat Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze last night, and now I've started going back through the stages to collect all of the KONG letters and puzzle pieces. This was a lot of fun, and the level design really shined throughout, but some of the later stages could be pretty brutal.

EXPENDABROOOOOOOOS
In another news, I finished Perseus Mandate, and thus the only two things missing from the F.E.A.R franchise I have left to play are the online game and the DLC for Project Origin. I guess it will be a quick thing to do.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 finally. I had a long standing grudge about being able to beat M. Bison in that game. And I finally did it. Did a little dance too. Forgot I'm living with my sister. Luckily, she's fully aware of my bizarre stupidity.

Season 1 is a more traditional story, while Season 2 is more personal. Honestly don't know how they're going to follow this up, though. The final choices are waaaaay too different to provide some kind of common ground.

Fatal Frame 2 and unfortunately, it's just not as scary as the first game, the production values are much higher with better graphics and voice acting, which is great, but as far as actually scaring you it just doesn't quite hit that sweet spot for me (though it has it certainly has it's moments), I think a big problem is the village setting, it's just not as claustrophobic and creepy to me as being trapped in a singular haunted mansion.
Still, I had fun playing it, but I'm gonna take a little break from the series for a bit before I dive into Fatal Frame 3, hopefully that one will really knock it out of the park, I'm sure the fact that I've never played that one before will help.

We originally created the General Game Chat Thread expecting that this kind of discussion would move over there so the other threads would get phased out and unclutter the first page of this subforum. That's not what happened, and instead the page got even more cluttered, so we're finally discontinuing these. Please use the official stickied General Game Chat Thread for this kind of talk from now on: hg101.proboards.com/thread/10256/general-game-chat-thread
