I'm serious. I've been meaning to get into the Silent Hill series for a damn long while now, but it seems a bit hard to get off on this foot on the premises that the original Silent Hill is... surprisingly more expensive than I'd like it to be, even including the "Greatest Hits" versions. I was wondering if anyone had a copy of Silent Hill for the PS1 that they wouldn't mind parting with? Or if they knew where I could find one?

It's a shame you didn't know me a year ago. I actually traded my copy to someone. If you can't play the first one, then try the second one. I personally liked the second one better.

Yeah, the second game is much better and isn't related to the first. (SH3 is though) I tried playing SH1 again. Not as good as I remembered. Low quality textures and poor voice acting. I guess the price went up around the time the movie was released. I the non GH version at Gamestop for like $15 two years ago.

Well, things aren't improving too much... I think I'd be lucky to get a copy at just around $30. That's what I'm trying to shoot for... though, if anyone wants to part with it on here or knows anyone who has a copy to spare, name the price. As much as I've been hearing about SH2 as the series' best, I really want to start from the beginning here.

I wish you luck in finding a copy, also might want to play it in ePSX, because it looks a lot better.

Huzzah! I finally snagged a copy for $35 off of eBay! It's also one of the original black labels, so I think it's a pretty good deal. I look forward to getting the crap scared out of me thoroughly.

Awesome! Don't let the uneven voice acting (Radio? What happened to that radio?) and sometimes amateurish camera work spoil the scares for you. And a great start would be watching Jacob's Ladder before trowing yourself into it

Y'know, I've heard nothing but praise about Jacob's Ladder, mostly from Kurt. I'd put it on my Netflix queue were it active, but... well, I'll see if any rental places has it at least.
And I'm used to horrid voice acting in games. After all, I grew up in the mid-90's. ;D

If you like Jacob's Ladder you might like the manchurian candidate as well.
