www.hardcoregaming101.net/natsume/natsume.htmThis one's about two years old. I recently found out that I skipped over a game called Choujin Sentai Jetman - which doesn't OFFICIALLY list Natsume as its developer, but it's pretty obvious. It's actually one of their weaker games, but it's not too bad. I also added MP3s for Shadow of the Ninja, Shatterhand, and SCAT.

There's a lot of games missing from that article: Don Doko Don 2, Dragon Fighter, The Jetsons: Cogswell's Caper, and Mitsume ga Tooru. Natsume at least did the programming and sound on Captain Saver, Power Blazer, Power Blade, and Power Blade 2.

Yeah, uh, I've never even heard of those. Time to read up I guess!

The NES Jetsons is pretty cool, just like the NES Flintstones. I don't know what is it about some NES games that the controls were tighter than some of the SNES versions. Main example the NES Jetsons, Flintstones vs the SNES ones.
The NES ones are very enjoyable.

Speaking of Shatterhand. Is there a possibility that people that worked on the NES Batman also worked on Shatterhand? Because both games look and play almost alike.

Maybe they were by different development teams?
I gave some of these a shot real quick. Mitsume ga Tooru and Dragon Fighter definitely qualify (the latter I guess was released in America? I never knew.) The Jetsons and Don Doko Don 2 are kinda in the fringe - with all of these other games, you can definitely tell they have some similarities, but these two just feel different. It feels like Natsume developed it but someone else designed it. They're still worth mentioning though, I guess.

Lol, after I kept reading I noticed you said that Shatterhand doesn't seem to rip off any other game. I have to disagree, Shatterhand is totally a Batman rip off. I've played both games extensively back in the days and all of my friends noticed right away it was ripping off Batman. Look at this screen. Replace Shatterhand with the Batman sprite and no one would be able to tell the difference. The same crouching shooting enemies are in Batman. Even the way Shatterhand jumps and punches is like Batman. Here are fullgame Batman screenshots if you want to compare. www.vgmuseum.com/images/nes/01/batman.html

Ehh...it's similar graphic-wise, a little bit, and the whole punching thing. But it's not an obvious clone, in the same way that they were obviously going after Ninja Gaiden with Shadow of the Ninja, or Forgotten Worlds with SCAT.
Batman plays differently too, especially with the special items. Shatterhand's are much more unique.

Well I find Shatterhand much more like Batman than Shadow of The Ninja with Ninja Gaiden and lots of people have made the same observations when they play Shatterhand. Not counting the obvious powerups differences of course. I know SotN (hey, same innitials as Symphony of the Night ) is trying to rip off Ninja Gaiden, but it plays very differently. Shatterhand plays much closer to Batman than SotN with Ninja Gaiden. I think it's fair to at least mention it considering lots of people have noticed it and you already made comparisons with the other games.

What I mean to say is, a ripoff in concept. Shatterhand is more than just a "ninja" game or "shooter" game.

Isn't Don Doko Don 2 a Taito game? The original is.

Maybe they were by different development teams? I gave some of these a shot real quick. Mitsume ga Tooru and Dragon Fighter definitely qualify (the latter I guess was released in America? I never knew.) Oh yeah. I continually rented the hell out of Dragon Fighter back in my younger days. Though somehow I'd have never associated it with the same developers who did Shatterhand and SCAT. Though maybe I should have. Back in the NES days, you could usually tell a developer by the style of music used in the game, as most major developers had their own signature sound... (especially Capcom, Konami, and Sunsoft.) Natsume's games typically had a similar sound to Konami's, so looking back, I really should have recognized it in Dragon Fighter. As far as the Shatterhand/Batman issue, I'm just not seeing it. Yes, the main character punched primarily in both games, but in Shatterhand, the concept of your character being able to block bullets by punching them seemed like a pretty major fundamental difference, and, as Kurt said, the way the items come into play give the game a different feel, as well. (Not to mention that the Shatterhand mechanic of hanging on chained fences is different from the Batman wall jump.)

Well I guess I'm all alone in this then. Yeah, there's definitely a resemblance (but they were not developed by the same people).
