Thanks for the suggestions! I'm worried though about the state of SNES emulation as last time I tried it was pretty inaccurate.

i dunno, worst i've seen of snes emulation was it ran kinda slow by default, but you can speed it up in the emulator itself, and some games simply won't work. you'll get that last bit with any non-pc emulator though. hell even pc emulators won't run everything, which is why i always suggest having more than 1, for the games you can't get running on your favorites.

MSX/MSX2/MSX2+ ---> PSPMSX Sega CD ---> PicoDrive
Note: PicoDrive also plays Genesis games, but I've only used it for Sega CD games, so I don't know how well Genesis games work.

What's DS emulation currently like?

I'm using ePSXe but for whatever reason when I get to the end of level 1 on ninja shadow of darkness (where there's supposed to be an FMV) I just get a black screen.
I must have downloaded some weird version of the game, because not only is it apparently missing /all/ FMV's, it's also missing it's entire soundtrack.

Yeah, you got a rip of the game and not a real ISO of it. Just go to SNESorama's forums. What's DS emulation currently like? There's the thread on it, lol.

What's DS emulation currently like? No$GBA has a nice compatibility with commercial games, tried it with Chinatown Wars and worked fine. The only complain is the screen size, but there is a frontend to double the window size. iDeaS, Desemume, and others have still a long way to go.

Desmume is good: better audio and no v-sync issues like no$, screen scaling options as standard and supports save states.

I definitely think that Fusion is THE emulator of choice for all the systems it emulates (keeping in mind that they all contain the same hardware to be emulated *anyway*).
However, I like to use some of the older versions of eSMS as well, because they support playing Game Gear games in Master System resolution. Sometimes it's buggy because of how the GG uses that extra VRAM space since it doesn't have to be displayed, but when it does work right it's excellent. Until recently the best way to play Sonic Triple Trouble, for example.

man, if computer emulation is the worst(and it is), arcade is a close second. spent the other day updating(ie, redownloaidng maybe 30% of) the roms to work with the updated versions of the emulators i have.
I've taken a greater look at arcade games and their ports, and the better game really depends on individual taste.
if you seek a challenge you'll want the arcade version of most games until the, maybe late 80's. at that point, especially when it comes to the Genesis, you'd want the Genesis/console games. At least, if we're talking emulation, and the temptation to consistently "put in more coins" as needed to continue form exactly where you left off.
Otherwise if you like em easier, definitely NES ports for the NES's early years, and Arcade games for the later 80's onward.
Some Arcade games, like Pac-Man and Burgertime are just as difficult no matter what, but look and sound better in the arcade.
Some are completely different cases altogether, such as Punch-Out!, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, Bionic Commando, etc. Generally I find the home console versions to be better, but that's my take on it.

new version of snes9x out, 1.52. the reason i mention it is it's pretty improved in a lot of ways, one of which being a whole lot easier to play light gun games. it doesn't stretch fully to the sides in a window anymore, but the bright side there is, that can be used to "shoot offscreen to reload" with the "justifier" peripheral in lethal enforcers.

Hi, I use this emulators:
blueMSX - MSX home computer series
DOSBox - Old dos classic games.
ePSXe - Playstation
Final Burn Alpha - Some Arcade with 68000 and Z80 cpus . Kega Fusion - with doubt, the best Sega SG-1000, SC-3000, Master System, GameGear, MegaDrive/Genesis, MegaCD/SegaCD, 32X emulator.
Magic Engine - Turbografx/PC Engine.
Neopop - Neogeo Pocket/Color.
Nestopia - Famicom-NES.
NO$GBA with NO$Zoomer FrontEnd - DS.
Project64 - Nintendo 64.
ScummVM - Old classic graphics adventures.
SnesGT - Snes emulator, I use the 0.230beta6 version that suport Fusion screen filter like HQ2X. This emulator have better compatibility that Snes9x and Zsnes, and use less CPU that Bsnes. So is the perfect choice for me. The only complain that don't support SuperScope games (actually run in ok but can't controll it).
Stella - Atari 2600
Visual Boy Advance-M - GameBoy Advance
WinX68kHighSpeed - Sharp X68000 japanese home computer

Still the best from what I can tell, but pSX(http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com/) is a good alternative. It doesn't require plugins, but isn't as compatible. Arcade...here's one I've 180'd on. With the exception of emulators that work with strictly 3D boards, like Modeler, Zinc, and NullDC Naomi, there's pretty much nothing M.A.M.E. can't handle that other arcade emulators do. You'll probably still want to stick with it, but I prefer GensGS for 16-bit Sega. Probably because, along with N64,and Neo Geo Pocket(though I would agree with you on these 2 if I still bothered with them), I've had emulators and roms for 8-bit Sega, and never had the urge to do anything with them, so I purged them all. I prefer Ootake here, free constantly updating, corrects roms that wouldn't work correctly in other free emulators(like on home consoles/handhelds), though mainly because they won't work in Ootake if you don't. Overall a great, seemingly overlooked, emulator. I compliment Nestopia with VirtuaNES. It seems to handle the titles Nestopia doesn't. Honestly, I gotta go with DeSmuME here. the last few version have been such an improvement that it blows everything else out of the water. It's not perfect, and NO$ may still better emulate some things here and there, but it's still very excellent. Might have to look into it, but I'm still quite comfortable with the old guard, which does handle light gun games well, and compliments each other in terms of compatibility.

I test pSX and is a good emulator but compatibility is a problem. With ePSXe was hard to find the perfect plugins for me, but now all run flawless.
I was a long time user of VirtuaNES but some weird japaneses roms don't run well in this. Nestopia is the most compatible NES emulator that I know, I have all the NES romset, so I can tell this. If some rom have problem, probably is because this roms have a wrong header.
DeSmuME is really good, but also is slower than No$GBA ,so in my no so powerful machine the games just run fine with high frameskip enable.
I'm still looking for other emus, like for the Saturn, if possible I prefer a balance between compatibility and speed. Pls, let me know if you have ones.
