Can you strike out "Antonio Inoki" at the beginning of Fighter Hayabusa's profile, so that it looks like...
Antonio Inoki Fighter Hayabusa is basically the hero.
It was supposed to be a bad joke about the character's lack of originality.

"The Amazon Finally fed up with having the living carp whipped out of him by Simon Belmont"
Also, WTF? Simon Belmont? Isn't this a Nintendo game? Is that for real or another joke?

"The Amazon Finally fed up with having the living carp whipped out of him by Simon Belmont" He's a fishman. Hence, " carp". It's a joke. Again, he's a fishman. One that looks humorously similar to the fishmen in Castlevania. Yet another joke.

theres your problem, you think people appreciate humor is this leading to fire pro? because this game is arguably an alpha version of fire pro. ie, no one really knows if it relates or not, but it's essentially the same engine, down the fact that fire pro still uses the same animations when you pick up a guy that's pretty beat. oh yeah, and since you nailed inoki, speculation on who the others are supposed to be: starman - mil mascaras(used the flying cross chop) amazon - one of the shieks i believe giant panther - not entirely sure, maybe bobo brazil(had the headbutt and claw combination if memory serves) kin corn karn - killer kahn king slender - ric flair(when he started, his hair looked like that) great puma - possibly giant baba, i think i heard about puma using the running neckbreaker instead of a clothesline. never saw him try it though, so i couldn't say.

is this leading to fire pro? Way too much for me to deal with on my own. I mentioned that Giant Panther looks like Hogan, and I made a Flair reference at the end, but I neglected to speculate on the others, because the only one that is without a doubt meant to be based wholly on a real life wrestler is Fighter Hayabusa.

Nice article. There's a lot of nostalgia dripping from its sentences. It's obvious this was a favorite for the author. Amazing he managed to write so much about it (even if it was mostly a recount of gaming sessions). While I was reading I kept "wrestling" (get it? ) about wether this title should have an entire article devoted to it. The part where the author goes on about those early round of Nintendo games as simple as their title themes made consider this would work better if all those were included in one big article as well. After all the author did point out a pattern of design similarities between those. As a whole they would make for a more interesting, more HG101-ish article.

Well, it looks like you misspelled CRAP. It should be in italics or something so that people know the pun is intentional. That's not funny, it would be if it was a Konami game though. At least make it look like a joke, because it sounds too serious as if it's something mentioned on the instruction manual.

Well, it looks like you misspelled CRAP. That's part of the joke. Ugh. That's like saying "Get it? Get it? It's a joke!" A little subtlety isn't going to kill anyone. What? It's really, really obvious that it's a joke. Seriously, the humor is way too absurd for anybody else to believe that "it's something mentioned on the instruction manual." Again, having to point out or explain a joke just ruins the whole thing.

It's kind of a bad joke, but it's somewhat amusing. I changed it to:
A strange fishman that looks like he crawled out a Castlevania game, The Amazon finally got fed up with having the living carp whipped out of him by Simon Belmont,
It gives some more context to the sentence (you'd have to look at the picture to know he was a fishman) and sets up the Simon Belmont part better.

Yes, that's way better. And don't take it personally zzz, it's just that not everyone is into Pro Wrestling (like me) and will probably not know if you were kidding or if it was some sort of Castlevania crossover (which is very common these days).

People who haven't played the game might get the joke, but only those who played the game will truly get it.

It's kind of a bad joke, but it's somewhat amusing. Of course it's a bad joke. That's kind of the point. There is no way that anybody other than Rey was ever going to believe that was serious. HG101 is not an encyclopedia or a FAQ site. If a comment is that absurd then it will be obvious enough that it's a joke that it doesn't need to be over-explained like that. Hell, whatever, it's not really that big of a deal either way. I only bother to comment about the change because it does kind of suck to have the joke needlessly changed because somebody took such an obvious joke seriously.

Wait a sec... If you're going to take out the Castlevania thing, then isn't the fishman comment a bit excessive? I mean, there's an image explicitly displaying his fishman-ness right there next to the text!
The original comment - "Finally fed up with having the living carp whipped out of him by Simon Belmont, The Amazon ran away and joined the circus..." - is more concise and flows better.
