What band/group/artist would you most want to make a soundtrack to a game?
I think Pelican would make a great background. They are a doom metal ( i don't think that term represents them TOO well) band and they have no singer. Check em out. Try the albm Australasia.

Awesome topic!!!
1) Kamelot to do a CastleVania soundtrack. My 2 favourite things mixed together... *NERDGASMZ* 2) Imogen Heap could do a deep puzzler. She gets into my head. 3) Goblin (Dario Argento's go-to music guru's) to do survival horror. Especially if it's a cross between their soundtracks to Phenomena, Suspiria and Tenebrae. 4) Infected Mushroom doing Sonic would be made of all sorts of WIN. They'd give the little blue one some REAL 'tude. 5) Coheed & Cambria to do a musical/RPG, if there ever was such thing. The mind melts at the possibilities contained in THAT!!!

Coheed and Cambria would be great for an RPG. Especially a Tales game. Clutch would be way cool for a FPS. And hey- they were on the jukebox in Prey.

Imagine an artsy action/adventure game with the scope of Shadow of the Colossus and a post-rock soundtrack made by Godspeed you! black emperor or 65daysofstatic! Or anything made by Peter Gabriel era Genesis (doesn't matter what, just that it's Peter Gabriel era Genesis).

I want Daft Punk to do the soundtrack for an Evil Dead game developed by Treasure.

I'd like to see a game with a nice classic rock motif, using only license songs from the era. Maybe it'd be funded by Chez.
EDIT: I forgot that's a Canadian radio station, and Ottawa only too! Well it basically plays classic rock or bands who still play the same (MAIDEN! UP THE IRONS)

Oh. Wait. That inspires me... The "New Wave Of British Metal" Era bands. Making a sequel to Prey. Or Doom 4.

This could be just my imagination at work, but pretty much every NIN instrumental sounds like it would fit perfectly into a Silent Hill game. Hell, the lyrics from Right Where It Belongs sounds like they're specifically talking about SH. No songfics, though, please! Those things make baby Jesus cry.
On a somewhat related note, the B'z album "The Mixture" is kind of odd, as well. This is the only album of theirs that I've ever heard, but damn if every last track sounds like it could be either the opening or ending theme for some random anime. "Wanna be without you..."

Royksopp should do a Rez-type game.

There should be an Ayreon game about the Dream Simulator with music from them.
PS: What the hell is your avatar Weasel. I don't understand it.

PS: What the hell is your avatar Weasel. I don't understand it. It's the cover of The Who's album, Tommy. I picked it for its connections to pinball wizardry, and, well, because it's an awesome album.

Now there's a band that deserves their own Guitar Hero/Rock Band version!
