With the release of Bionic Commando Rearmed a few weeks ago, Sotenga has written a (very lengthy) dissertation about how awesome this game is. It can be found here: www.hardcoregaming101.net/bioniccommando/bioniccommando3.htmAlso, guys, this is totally the HG101 Game of 2008. I'm baffled that people are actually excited about this year's holiday season so I'm not seeing anything that could be possibly be better than an amazing remake of the best NES of all time.

How painfully obvious is it that he's supposed to look like M. Bison?

Holy CHRAPSON. Reading it in format, I really went overboard. Sorry, I talk about EVERYTHING in this game. Shit, all I'd need are some maps and this could be a walkthrough. By the way, I'm full of crap here, so if you haven't played BCR yet, don't look into it just yet unless you don't mind spoilers so much.

I just did look into it. And then I saw the explod. Muthafucka. I just got a new desktop! Holy shit this is great. Fuck, I'm getting some money pretty soon, and this IS on my buying list. :rtfo
Honestly Mike, you did a crazy ass job on this one! It is GREAT! I gotta say you explained EVERYTHING. Which is... Awesome. The article makes me wanna see a new KOF that looks exactly like Shinkiro's stuff...
edit:
Woops. I'm not on T3M.

Great article. I noticed that you reflected on the possibility that you could just be biased, well...speaking as someone who DIDN'T grow up with Bionic Commando on the NES, I can firmly say that even I think this remake kicks major ass, everything about it is awesome and everyone should play it.

Ah, thank you all. I was saying to Kurt that you can write as much or as little as you want about stand-alone games, and sequels often examine what sets it apart from the rest. But when it comes to a remake, you pretty much have to explain everything that sets it apart from its original to warrant another purchase. There just happens to be too many of that, so I wrote too much in return. I was certainly eager to write this after having my Actraiser article in development hell... not sure when I'll pick that up again in earnest now that college work is beginning to build. I'll do my best to shoot for the end of the year, though.

This is an attempt to quote Spinal Tap, right? Come on, do it properly Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven. *ahem* Anyway, back on subject, I've only played the arcade version of Bionic Commando (Via Capcom Classics Collection) and to be honest, I wasn't impressed. I like the idea of the rope instead of jumping, but thought Batman: The Movie on the C64 (by Ocean) did it much better. Still, that said, I have heard the NES version is meant to be a better game.
