I haven't played it, but it sounds like the fighting engine is a bit clunky. Yep. Which is kind of a shame, because it has everything that it needs for it to be a top tier fighting game. If they had tweaked it a bit it could have been just completely badass. That too. The aesthetic is really what makes it stand out. I really like the sparse, "real world" look of the game and the mundane everyday settings. The sprite art for the supers, too. And the cutscenes are just absolutely fantastic. MOD:I'm surprised that you left out the shot of the highway (it should be labeled as "Ossu!! Karatebu Cut Scenes-10.png"). How about putting it in there in place of the shot below, since it (the shot below) is so similar to the one right next to it? MOD 2: Corrected the file name of the highway shot.

Its the same title, just spelled differently (or rather romanized differently).

The sprites are pretty cool. A beat'em up with those graphics would have been awesome.

I've seen it pretty commonly translated as "go" though. Not literally like, say "ike", it's more just an interjection of excitement.

And the cutscenes are just absolutely fantastic. Yeah, that's what I like about the game too. The backgrounds aren't flashy like other fighting games, which is a nice change of pace. However, I found the gameplay lackluster. I might have to give it a 2nd go though. The game definitely has a nice aesthetic.

I've seen it pretty commonly translated as "go" though. Not literally like, say "ike", it's more just an interjection of excitement. I guess my point is that the situations we would use "GO!" in are not the same situations in which Japanese people would say "Osu!" I don't know why it is translated as "go." You could maybe translate it as "let's go" in the sense that English speakers might say that when motivating themselves to do something. Like if I am in the middle of a tough workout or something and am hitting my exhaustion point I guess I could say, "Let's go, Al!!!" to pump myself up. But it's closer to "yes sir" than anything. In the same way if a drill sergeant is yelling at you to do push ups, you might say, "yes sir!" You wouldn't say, "Go!!"

Little copy&paste mistake in the article: The description for "Nakai Touru" is the same as for "Rick Powered".

Looks like I messed that up back when I transferred it from the old layout. Fixed now, thanks.

Hooray for Necrocommenting!
Culture Brain never really got over that choppiness in their SFC games, heh.
Ultimate Fighter (Hiryu no Ken) and Super Chinese Fighter had the same issue.
