hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/rangerx/rangerx.htmThis is one of those games I bought years ago, never quite figured out the controls, and just gave up on it. But playing it this morning to grab screenshots, I finally fell into the groove and got into it. It's still strange to control, especially considering how huge your mech is, but it's a lot of fun when you get the hang of it. I'd rank it above Cybernator, anyway.

Awesome work Robert! I started writing an article for this a few weeks ago but school had bogged me down from doing much of anything. Definitely excellent read for an excellent game!

A veritable gem, this one. I managed to get it for free when I won my Sega CD. Ah, the little bonuses in life. ;D
If I only have one complaint, it just feels like there could have been a few more levels to this one. But ah well. It's still damn good as it is.

Thanks for the compliment Gilder. This one's been a favorite of mine for some time (Props to the folks for picking it up at a garage sale and even scoring the box & everything), and part of me wondered initially if it wasn't something like a Gundam spin off or something until I did some research a while back. It's a really solid game, though getting past level four on the higher difficulties is a real, real pain without the stage skip (It can be done, but oy...)
As for the controls, I found a six button controller to be really helpful on this one, making manuvering just a bit easier since you can coordinate stuff with the bike, though yeah, it does take getting used to at first.

I can't really explain it, but you have to kind of glide up back and forth across the screen to get that right amount of lift to make it up before your engines burn out. I still thing the programmers fell asleep when the took out the gravity platforms on that stage.

This game was fun. I used too borrow it from my friend. Back in the days when the megadrive was famous, even in the Netherlands :') Good 'ol times. back in those day's i could never surpassed the boss before the last Boss.
I recently got it again and this time i could finish it.

I may be in the minority here, but Ranger-X just never grabbed me the way I thought it would. Great game, yes. Just not my cup o' the proverbial leaf beverage.
...yes, I did like Cybernator better.

Read the article and hunted down the ROM... awesome, AWESOME game!!! Soundtrack is awesome too... didn't realise till i sat through the intro that Noriyuki Iwadare (Grandia I/II/III) composed the score My mates own a retro-games store down here in Australia, and they just happened to have it... got a complete mint condition copy of the game... not a scratch on it, for $20 AU. Even has all the little advertising pamphlets that had come in the game case. Awesome game
