Okay guys, I couldn't just go off and not write this article. It may be the last Splatterhouse related article I write, at least for a long time, so I have to finish it. No excuses - I plan to have it done by Monday at the latest.
Games I've covered and percentage completed at this time: Splatterhouse (section about 95% finished), Splatterhouse 2 (section about 25% finished), Splatterhouse 3 (section about 50% finished), Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Grafitti (section about 15% finished), and one rip-off, Simple 2000 Series Vol. 64: The Splatter Action (done, unless Kurt has something to add to it).
Anyone have anything to add, comments, ideas? Post them here.

Thanks Mike. I'm quite a bit further along now. With any luck, I'll be able to finish it up tonight and send it over to Kurt shortly thereafter.

Only suggestion I have is to have a picture of that intestine-tentacle attack you can do in Splatterhouse 3. Could never figure out how to do it.

Done. I'll be sending it to Kurt shortly. He can edit and such as he so chooses from there.
I'll make sure to get a pic of the exploding body attack... in fact, I believe I have one on West Mansion. Not sure if Kurt will be using the prexisting screenshots that I already have there, or if he's going to make his own. Of course he's more than welcome to use anything at all from the site for the article.

Thanks Kurt! I hope you guys enjoy this. I'd personally go as far as to say SH3 is one of the best beat-em-ups on the Genesis, being surpassed only by the Streets of Rage games. ACK! Noticed something I missed earlier: "At its heart, Splatterhouse is very much like the Irem classic Kung-Fu Master. You move from right to left only, taking down enemies with one or two punches or kicks." That should read "from left to right". Here are the two "exploding intestine" pics I have on WM:

I saw those - has the Pause logo on it though...

Yeah... if I can snag a shot of that move without the pause logo, I will. And did you notice my last minute correction above?

Got it... and personally, the pic I'd replace of the first boss (the next to last pic, right before the Giant Boreworm). You'll probably have to resize this pic a little too (I was using Kega at 320x240 resolution).

Hey, this is why I read Hardcore Gaming. 'Good article. Thanks for posting it.
Something about Hardcore Gaming, with its MS Word Art logo and simple layout--something just seems to click. The writing is upfront and driven by content--intelligent and focused, yet free-flowing; it's like listening to a neighborhood friend who doesn't have to care what you think. Anyway, the Splatterhouse article pretty much fits right in. 'Good job!
Next time, though, don't use JPEG's for screenshots!

Regarding the screenshots... a lot of them date from when WM was brand new, and at the time I just wanted pics of the SH games. I didn't care what format they were in. If I knew then what I know now, they'd have all been in gif or png format.

Yeah, they all have pretty low compression though, so they don't look noticeably worse than the PNGs, so it's no big deal. At least, not enough to replace them all.

Man the Splatterhouse games are great stuff. I never understood why Namco never revisited the series after they redesigned the mask so much for Splatterhouse 3.
Is the Terror Mask and/or Rick in Namco x Capcom?
