Ah, now this is a worthy game!
The Game Refuge guys, these days, are largely stuck doing lame arcade redemption games and the occaisional arcade license for someone else (they did a 3D Star Trek: Voyager game a few years ago). If I had a bucket of venture capital lying around, I'd shoot them a letter in a moment.

Indeed, some of the Midway alums are in sad positions nowadays, Like, Eugene Jarvis is in many ways one of my heroes, but I think the the last thing he was involved in was some crappy light gun game called, like, Target: Terror or something. UGH.
Anyway I can't really comment much on General Chaos since the last time I played it was sixth grade and I haven't gotten around to playing it since. I'd grab the cart if I saw it though. Which I haven't, in the years I've been perusing Genesis used bins.

Yeah, it's a bit of an uncommon game. I actually still don't own a copy yet. I only tried my senior year in high school when I had a study hall and was bored as hell so I brought my Sega Nomad to school. Me and my one friend would play General Chaos and Gunstar Heroes the entire block. Good times. Was Game Refuge involved with that newest Rampage: Total Destruction? It kind of sucks.

I've only played this game ever so briefly during my sophomore year of college when my R.A. Charlie, knowing I was a game fanatic, brought it up. Definitely fun, though alas, I had only the briefest of play throughs with it. Never was able to get into the story mode, though by and far 2 player mode rocked.
And of course I was able to repay the favor by introducing Charlie to Gunstar Heroes- good times.

Hey is Pigskin part of the General Chaos "legacy"? They look like they are almost the same game design wise.

Pigskin was another production by the guy who would become known as Game Refuge. They also made Arch Rivals and two of the versions of Rampage.

They were also responsible for Xenophobe and the criminally unknown and underrated Blasted.

I loved this game back in the day, rented it like 3, 4 times. For some reason, a lot of people mix this game up with Haunting. I swear, anytime anyone asks "what's this GEN game?" 9 times outta 10 the answer's either Haunting or General Chaos. I got lucky back in Feb when I found GC complete at a flea market for 7 bucks. When I came home and got online, I was informed they hit 20+. (I got GC, Shadow Dancer and DJ Boy all complete for a 20... to think I *almost* didn't want to do it!)

Found this recently and wanted to share it, so excuse me for digging up an old thread. Around this month Sega 16 did a interview with Brian Colin, one of the guys behind General Chaos. Great interview where he shares some stuff about the game and couple of other one's they did. He also hints of a possible General Chaos revival or spiritual successor, most likely on iOS and Wii U since he's talking about touch controls. www.sega-16.com/2013/08/interview-brian-colin/

My only experience with this game is that I watched two guys flip their shit with excitement when they found a copy in an independent game store. Must be pretty good.
