I've got an eye of a copy for Dream Match over on eBay, I do. I listened to most of KoF XI's soundtrack, and let me say HOLY SHITTING WORMHOLES. I think that KoF2003 has a damn great soundtrack, though not as stellar as 98. 99, or 2000. Well, XI's OST pretty much explodes 2003 out of the water. My personal favorite music is for K''s team, which is just so fast and rocking that you can't help but fight with vigor! Gawdamn, I so hope somebody picks up the licensing rights for XI... I'd even take the Wii at this point!

Alright, it is like 97% done. hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/kof/kof.htmI just need to add a few more pics, write up something at the end and add some links. All of the music/videos are linked now too. Speaking of which, what are some decent KoF/SNK sites nowadays?

Speaking of which, what are some decent KoF/SNK sites nowadays? The one that pops right to mind: www.neogeoforlife.com/I am rather flattered to see my name in the credits. Take a bow too, Rasa. ;D It looks more glorious than I ever could have fathomed. Kurt's really outdone himself here. This is easily the second-largest article on the site, though NOTHING will ever topple Megami Tensei... unless Kurt snaps and devotes himself to a fifty-page extravaganza on Mario for no good reason.

Yeah the article looks great overall. That neogeoforlife one is probably the best out there currently. Orochinagi used to be fantastic but is almost completely focused on just KoF. I used to talk to Kazuya a lot on ICQ, great guy, great reviews on the site too. For a more historical look, Neo Alec's Neo Geo Page is pretty interesting to check out also, hasn't been updated in ages beyond a facelift and some download additions: www.j-fan.com/neogeo/I used to be a moderator at the Neo Alec (now J-Fan) CGI chat (that's right, I'm an egotistical jerk and it always comes back to ME). Fun place but it's pretty empty nowadays. I met a lot of cool people there that I would end up running into at Otakon/etc.

The Megami Tensei article is larger but the amount of info you've gotten organized, refined and uploaded in such a relatively short amount of time is great. You've come a long way since when we first met and I had to show you what SNK stands for and what Cool Cool Toon is. I really appreciate you're putting me in the credits also.

Hey going over the article again it looks like you're missing some covers, if you want I could make scans of:
King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999 (US Dreamcast) King of Fighters '99 (US PSX) King of Fighters: Evolution (US Dreamcast) King of Fighters 2000/2001 combo pack (US PS2) King of Fighters 2002/2003 combo pack (US PS2 and XBox versions) King of Fighters Maximum Impact (US PS2)
I would definitely edit in some mention of the combo packs since you open up the article talking about how hard it can be for a US gamer to get into the franchise.
Margo has the box and its contents right now, but when the GBA originally came out I got the limited edition black GBA that has KoF logos adorning it and was packaged with KoFEX1 as well. It's a pretty cool oddity. Also I own King of Fighters Extreme for the N-Gage but it's so bad. Frankly I'm not exactly falling all over myself to provide information or scans on it. They basically took the worst aspects of the two GBA games and merged them together.
Random anal rententive clarifications: The PSX version of KoF'99 isn't subtitled Evolution because it's not really, just a port with cut animation and such. Though it does have the color edit mode that all other versions lack. SNK had a contest regarding this, the winners got their colors used as the alternate versions in KoF 2000 and 2001.
So in the US, the Dreamcast version drops the year, and is called King of Fighters: Evolution. The PSX version is just called King of Fighters '99. In Japan they're King of Fighters '99: Evolution.

One of the KOF for the NeoGeo Pocket Color was ported to a cellphone. I remember seeing it on sale at an EBgames (reduced down, seeing how I guess it wasn't selling well). Not sure which on, but I'm going to assume it's based off KOF R-2, seeing how it was in color.

...and what Cool Cool Toon is. ...? Cool Cool Toon? Rasa, I'm your new student. Do educate me further on this thing that I have heard of just now so I can determine if it's as cool as it is. ;D

Gilder I believe it is based on R-2. From what I heard it has like five or six characters or something though. There's a Turrican cell phone port, Splinter Cell, and Metal Slug also. Doom RPG is the best cell phone game ever made though by far. sotenga oh man, Cool Cool Toon is a saccharine coated acid trip of a rhythm game from SNK with awesome cel-shaded graphics. It was released exclusively for the Dreamcast, though it had a companion game on the NGPC called Cool Cool Jam. The main characters are a boy and a girl (Amp and Spica) and this weird pink pet rabbit thing named Yusa. They make background cameo appearances in a few of the 2D fighters released later on. This is one of those "screenshots don't do it justice" games. The amount of lunacy that is happening in the backgrounds of the levels at any given time is beyond explanation. The gameplay itself is actually very similar to Ouendon on the DS if you've played that. Rather than having scrolling representations of buttons to hit, you have a ring within which you can move the cursor anywhere with the analog stick. The buttons and motions you have to do pop up at various spots within the ring, and the time you have left to hit them is represented by a circle that shrinks around the button icon until it lines up with the outline of it. The game gets very hard very fast. I think they refer to each round as a blitz but they're SNK. So the game modes are called "Single Flitz," "Double Flitz," etc. If you do well you can earn a "Flitz Boon" which lets you freeze your enemy for bit, etc.

CCT seems like one of the coolest things ever on the DC. Too bad I don't have adequate means to play imports anywhere else but on my NES, Saturn, and Turbo Duo. Speaking of importing, I hope that A. King of Fighters XI gets an American release, or 2. At the least, the backward compatibility of the PS3 and its region-free capabilities allow for PS2 import play. Apparently, lucky European bastards (which I intend jocosely, no offense ) are receiving a port of KoF XI through a company called Ignition Entertainment. But this is how I see it; why would SNK-Playmore go to the trouble to release KoF 02/03 in America two years after 2003 was originally released? I think it's because they care about the American market, and the only reason they'll meet any interference is because of other jackass companies that don't approve very well of 2D! Hell, I'm dying for anything, even a release on the Wii! I could certainly use the classic controller for a fighting game, I wouldn't mind. JUST SOMEBODY RELEASE IT OVER HERE!!! *head explodes all over the wall* ... *pulls a T-1000 and reforms liquid metal head, then breathes heavily through closed teeth* When there is a game that I want to play... I will play it. That it always how it has been, and will always be. In an absolute worst-case scenario, I'll implore help for PS2 importing. In the meantime, I can only drool over this video from YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM6NWnAjgF0&search=king%20of%20fighters%20xi%20dreamcancel

Running import games on a Dreamcast is really simple. You can either download a bootdisc and burn it (which is free), or get a Gameshark (which isn't free, but is cheap.) I've had some incompatilibities with certain games, but most work with a certain one I have. I'll see about putting it up on the site.
PS2 imports, it depends. Which kind do you have, the regular PS2 or the slimline? You can install a fliptop for the old kind, and the new kind have some other small parts you can install. Both require a boot disc. You can get kits with all necessary parts for about $30-$40. Modding a regular PS2 isn't too hard, as long as you have some basic screwdrivering skills.

I have a slimline with a no-solder modification of three rubber parts that are installed on each "lid is closed" sensor. It works great with homebrew software, but I can't get the hang of using copies of my games without heavy slowdown and long loading times.

Modding a regular PS2 isn't too hard, as long as you have some basic screwdrivering skills. ... which... I lack. I am serious, my manual skill with most tools is poor to laughable. Maybe I could develop with a bit of practice, but... well, I'm reasonably patient. I can wait for an American port... which there WILL be, if I have anything to say about it. It's just wishful thinking at this point, but there is a chance that it will come over here. Let me ask about Neo Geo Battle Coliseum... is it going to be ported to the XBOX 360 in America? Has such been confirmed?
