Has anybody played this already? I have the PSP version. Does anybody know if SS5 Special is an unlockable? ARE there any unlockables at all?
Thanks

SS5 Special is on no collection due to some retarded promise SNKP made to the NeoGeo gentry.

The word around the internet is that no, it is not there.
I hear the port is terrible too.

This is already out? The EBGames site still lists a March release for the PSP and Wii versions. And where's the PS2 version?

I don't know about the PSP rev, but I have the import of the Wii edition and, no, SSVSpecial is not on there unless it's very cleverly hidden.
The only potential upside is that, as I understand it, the Western release isn't going to be the same code as the Japanese (which is a good thing because the import has issues that the parallel titles on VC do not, which is mildly irritating).

The Asian version is out around the torrent sites. Dunno if it's out for legit. Yeah, that's how I got it. But which port do you say is bad? All of them? The weird thing is that the one I downloaded has all the art and music available from the start, which seems kinda odd to me because compilations like these usually boast these as unlockables. I just want to know if someone has been messing with it and then posted the torrent. On another note, how many Samurai 5 are there? And what's that Samurai "Tenkai" about? I fell so behind with SNK fighters I didn't even know there was a Samurai 6! Shame on me.

What are they? I'm gonna get right on it and see how faithful the ports are. The SNK classic collection Vol 1 was pretty accurate, wasn't it?

On another note, how many Samurai 5 are there? There's V and V Special, Special originally was very buggy, and thus had a fixed (& censored, since in the buggy version you could get finishing moves with an unibios) release.

The PS2 and PSP versions of SNK Classics Vol. 1 are garbage. The Wii one is decent.
I'm assuming the PSP version of Samurai Shodown was done by Terminal Reality. I don't know who did the PS2/Wii versions that were released in Japan last year.

The PS2 and PSP versions of SNK Classics Vol. 1 are garbage. The Wii one is decent. Wow, really? I played through Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting and couldn't find anything wrong with them. Maybe the sound is off a little? I have a bad ear for the sound. The PSP version of Samurai Shodown Anthology doesn't mention any other than Playmore, so I don't know who made it. I played SS1 and SS2 and couldn't find anything wrong, although I didn't use headphones, so maybe I missed something sound related. And yeah, that port of SS6 is the worst I have seen since Street Fighter II for Famicom. The graphics are scaled down to the point you can't read text or the score on screen, lots of frames of animation seem to be missing, and the announcer is some American dude speaking Japanese with a terrible accent (although since I haven't played the original, some of these things might have been faults carried over). It's a big disappointment. EDIT: Oh, and I beat SS1 and didn't get any unlockables, so there might not be any.

I don't even know why Samurai Shodown VI was included, considering it already had a stand-alone release in Japan with online play for the PS2 (much like every other Atomiswave port released for the PS2, including NGBC and KOF XI).

Somebody care to tell me why SNK Classic Collection Vol 1 sucks on the PSP? Again, I can't seem to find anything wrong with AOF, FF, and KOF 94 versions.

Going by the PS2 versions...the quality depends on a game-by-game basis, but they include slowed down gameplay, frame skipping, and load times. Samurai Shodown and Art of Fighting are relatively OK, but KoF 94 was noticeably off, and stuff like Shock Troopers and Last Resort were pretty bad.
