Oh man, after reading your question I was just looking for some pic or article or vid as a proof, but I can't find any and it seems like I was pretty wrong actually. I don't know if my memory's playing tricks on me or whether I was just told wrong about ten years ago, but I suppose I was living quite a big lie there. I thought I remembered Illusion of Gaia missing lots of religious allusions as well as allusions to the game world being OUR world, like with the camels having a different name. I really don't know why that had been in my head so firmly, but now I'm feeling rather stupid. Ususally I get my facts straight when discussing games, but this time?...sorry 'bout that. ^^"

Not to worry man, I have jumbled up facts too. I happens when your history with games becomes quite large. I could see some truth to the religious claims though, as Nintendo was notorious for taking that kind of stuff out.

Ooops, just two little details. The picture under the toaster dog should read "Omnitopia" and not "Metroplex". The name Metroplex should also be replaced inside the dog's bio. The player's guide that I got the names from must have been making up names or something. Also, You've added the songs "Ambience - Forest" and "Ambience - Jungle 2" to the download, but they are not listed inside the article under the MP3 title. -- Ah geez, I just realized that the modifications I made to the text next the the bio pictures didn't get updated. I guess things would have been easier if I did more proofreading the first time I sent the file. Sorry.

Alright, should be updated. I didn't see the text boxes were updated so I didn't copy/paste it. Sorry!

Read the full article last night, and I gotta say, it was a great read. I never knew the game was built from the ground up, which is a cool fact, as it makes the game so much more special. That interview posted was a fantastic read as well.

Interesting tidbit:
My girlfriend loves this game, and she recently decided to replay it. Feeling saucy, she named the hero "Fucktard" When she reached the skeleton ferryman in the desert, he called her a potty mouth and demanded 3 Amulets of Annihilation instead of one.

What? That is 100% news to me! I don't know if anyone ever found this... It looks really interesting, do you have a screen capture of it? I guess the game still has a few secrets left... EDIT: Oops, apparently it was in one of the walkthroughs. Well, it's still pretty cool.

"Another argument that was made against Evermore was its lower quality standards compared to other Square games. This is hard to deny, "
Really? Having finally beaten most* games, SoE seemed more polished to me. But this is kind of a vague statement so maybe you could explain further what you mean?
Other than that, this was a great read and very exhaustive.
*Both games. Not most, heh.

I remember Evermore being a bit glitchy... not nearly as badly as Secret of Mana, though.

I never beat this game. I got pretty far into it though. I liked it because it was similar to Secret of Mana. If I had easy access to my SNES, I'd try to defeat the game properly. AW YEAH, REVENGE TIME!

I remember Evermore being a bit glitchy... not nearly as badly as Secret of Mana, though. I agree. SoM has bad hit detection. That makes me stop playing it As for SoE, it has better gameplay than SoM (because of that bad hit detection) I also prefer spears over any other type weapons. IMHO the character is like cross between Link (for his heroism) and Guybrush Threepwood (for his humourly talks) When i met innkeeper in Ebony tower and he talks about his story. I really don't understand about him But few seconds after his conversation, i realize that he is Cecil. Damn! I'm very sorry to him
