www.hardcoregaming101.net/sengokuace/sengokuace.htmThis is Psikyo's trilogy, starting as a typical overhead shooter and then changing into a side-scroller with the second installment. The third one was released for the PSP a few years ago. Of course, it's mostly known for this:

Just to be pedantic, under Kenoumaru's bio, that should really be "an...F15". I don't think anyone will crucify you over it, since you could argue that using an 'a' over the 'an' preserves the ambiguity, but since F15 begins with a vowel-sound (you'd pronounce it "Efff-won-five"), it's supposed to be with 'an'.
I've always disliked that rule, since acronyms make it rather unclear. Were you to pronounce 'RPG' as "arrr-pee-gee," it should be "an RPG," but if you're to understand RPG as being an acronym for "Role-playing game," it should be "a role-playing game. Rather annoying.

I'm really sorry for being a prick about this, but the very first sentence is kind of awkward to read.
Is there a way to, perhaps rearrange this sentence so that it gives all the same bits of information, but flows a little better?
The rest of the article is excellent.

The F-15 problem is easy, because the dog's plane doesn't look like the F-15 at all. It looks like a YF-23. Also, the old man's plane looks suspiciously like an X-Wing.

Odd that Tengai was never easily available on Amazon UK (or am I just blind?), but still I got a hold of this fairly cheap (play.com still list it), a few years ago.
Oh sweet jeezous it's boring. I love shoot-em-ups, but not of recent vintage. Tengai suffers the same problem most modern shmups share - no level design. It's just shooting waves of enemies, there is NO "level design" a-la Thunderforce or R-Type. No caverns to weave through, no "walls" of any sort. Just empty space with loads of enemies.
Nice to see the article up though, and that it's keeping with HG101's excellent written standards.

Were those released in Europe? I think I heard there was a Strikers and/or Gunbird compilation for the PS2 that made it to Europe, but the two games were split apart and released separately. Did that happen with Sengoku Ace/Blade?
I have the Japanese PS2 version - got it cheap from Play Asia awhile back. I'm personally not a huge fan of Ace, but Blade is alright. Not one of my favorites, but the best of Psikyo's games, I think.

And in Taisen Hot Gimmick, yeah. The spelling is different each time though.

Anyone notice the irony of Psikyo breaking apart from Video System because of their shift away from Vertical monitors, and then Sengoku Blade (and Cannon) turned around and became a Horizontal game with a Horizontal monitor?

Hey, random question (and please don't judge me by this) but would you happen to have the uncensored picture of that Koyori figure at the bottom of the page? =P
