www.hardcoregaming101.net/drakkhen/drakkhen.htmKyouki sent me this awhile back, when there was a forum topic on it, but I just finally got around to putting it up now. It's worth trying just to see the Hint Dragon plummet to the earth. Definitely an odd game.

Thanks for putting this up. Just a quick correction: In the second sentence, "someone find out how to stop this all from happening" should be "somehow find out how to stop this all from happening" Other than that, looks fine.

This game looks a hell of a lot like Betrayals of Krondor for the PC (well, except for the lack of nasty digitized graphics).

The part about Dragon View is awful short and incomplete-feeling. It's actually a pretty good game and probably deserved more text than the Drakkhen part...

The reason I didn't cover it is because it's not really a sequel. It wasn't developed by the same people, it certainly doesn't take place in the same world, and it doesn't even play anything like Drakkhen. The only indication that it is a sequel to Drakkhen is on the copyright screen! Personally, I can't stand Dragon View.

There was a reference to this game in the later PC game "Eternam". Towards the end of Eternam, you enter a room I'm told is from Drakkhen, and the 4 enemies that attack you are the PCs from Drakkhen. Hmmm....I think I still have it installed... EDIT: Ah excellent, managed to snag a screen! They say awhole bunch of stuff, but I don't know if it's nonsense or is related to Drakken, having never played it. This is the onlly reference, BTW.

If you want, I can write a piece about Dragon View to add to your article if you hate it that much. It'll have to wait until after I'm done with my Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaia/Terranigma/Granstream Saga article though.

The only indication that it is a sequel to Drakkhen is on the copyright screen! Personally, I can't stand Dragon View. I still think Dragon View should be included. The reasons you mention are not a set of rules to be followed by wannabe sequels or prequels. I'm sure you can find a lot of game series that don't follow them. Compare Final Fantasy I to Final Fantasy XI for example. I do think though, that to consider a new game a prequel or sequel to a previous one, the only prerequisite would be for its developers to state it. Because even if we hardcore gamers hate the idea of... say... Fire Emblem 11: Kart Racing, the people that made the game and the company behind it always have the last word. Even if to us it's just a spin-off.

Well, it DOES say Drakken 2 on the copyright screen. That's good for me
