The collection in post #8 is just dumb. Way to ruin the insides of the games at the bottom.

These collections are mostly pretty crummy. Bad organization, lame set ups, and not even that big. You can find better stuff just cruising Digital Press or Neo-Geo.com.

I really don't see the appeal or how there's any bragging rights in owning 30 NES Zappers and a bunch of cart-only Atari games.

Yeah, I didn't notice that before, but that's pretty bizarre. What's the point of having loads of duplicates? And why would you want to show off such a thing thinking people will care? I have two Zappers, one grey, one orange, and I can't think of any reason to have more than that. If I can't come up with a legitimate reason to keep a duplicate around, I just sell it off and use the money to buy something I don't already have.

It's probably actually photos from someone who owns a store.

Judging from those enormous disc spools, he probably did like everybody else and just burned all of the other Dreamcast games.

"sigh" Why is it that those video game collections never have a nice setting? Why is it always a dank basement with awkward NES wallpaper and metal bookcases filled with thousands and thousands of boxes? Maybe it's because the obsessive-compulsive side that makes a good collector makes for a very bad interior designer. Anyway, would it hurt to have a nice wooden bookcase, pleasant lighting and maybe something else than only games and a TV in the room? Ah well, maybe I'm just being crazy. You know, I'd like to see a video game collection set in a room that would actually be nice for normal people to live in. Sounds like a challenge to me.

I'm working on that right now, actually. Nice furniture is as big of an expense as the games themselves. We just got a new couch, and are currently looking for a classy armchair to go with it.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without my girlfriend forcing me to put the money towards it. Otherwise, it would have all gone towards more games. No body pillows, though.

I like the idea of a dedicated game room and I hope to have one someday, but, yeah, it's gotta look nice. What's sad is that a lot of these rooms not only fail in interior design but also in functionality. What's the good of having loads of games if you have a shitty entertainment set up with a piece of junk TV, no sound system, and an awkward placement of everything?

The Angry Video Game Nerd has the perfect setup, right down to the 80's TV.

"sigh" Why is it that those video game collections never have a nice setting? Why is it always a dank basement with awkward NES wallpaper and metal bookcases filled with thousands and thousands of boxes? Maybe it's because the obsessive-compulsive side that makes a good collector makes for a very bad interior designer. . Being someone who has a giant pile of games himself, I can tell you exactly why: Space. You try and get creative with all those games, and try and do it in any extra space you have. Sorry, but there is only one uniform, economical way to store games, and that entails making your room look like a shelf at EB. Some of my pride and joy titles get displayed and rotated with others, but the bulk of my stuff sits pack on shelves. Then comes the next big reason: Money You want to collect games, or be a fluffy interior designer? Both cost a ton of cash, and if you collect video games, then why would you invest in custom wallpaper? I am going to buy a house one day, and you know what's going to happen then? Nothing, and do you know why? Because even trying to attempt to convince my Fiancee to go along with making some uber gaming room would be impossible. Kids will come, and they will destroy. I did it to my dads stuff, and my buds with kids are going through the same thing. I love my games room big time, and it drives me crazy that some of my games are in boxes/totes under my stairs, or stuffed into a closet, but when you only live in a small 2 bdrm basement suite, what else are you supposed to do. I don't need a fancy room to flex my gamer cock, because I already know I have a spending problem without having to parade it in a "nice to look at fashion". That's not to say I'm not proud of the 700 pounds of plastic I've spent all my hard earned cash on, I only try to work with what I got, and space is not something I have an abundance of.

Oh my gosh! I used one of those lunchboxes as a kid, I still have it. A bit dirty, though, I wonder how you clean stickers :S
