I had a book full of walkthroughs for all kinds of games from the mid-90s, and Eric the Unready was one of them. I got to play nearly all of the games, except for this one, by Legend Entertainment. It's fully text based, with a small graphic window and other interface "improvements", but it's easily one of the funniest text adventures I've ever played. It seems to be passed over in the graphic adventure land in favor of Monkey Island or Space Quest since it IS all text, but that shouldn't stop you from checking it out. www.hardcoregaming101.net/eric/eric.htmI actually made the screenshots larger than normal on the sidebar, so you can read the text without enlarging it (but you can do that, too.) There's a lot of silliness, obviously. There's a few funny death messages in the screens, but I admire this one for its succinctness:

I want to read the article, but I've been meaning to play this game for ages and don't want to see any spoilers. (A copy of The Lost Adventures of Legend anthology happened to fall into my hands some years ago.) I will add that I'm surprised you're stopping with one game and not covering the Spellcasting series while you're at it. Don't forget to mention that the cover art is another Boris Vallejo.

I love text adventures. I love humor. I must get this game right away; it sounds absolutely amazing.

Legend Entertainment made quite a few interesting adventure games back in the day. Death Gate has to be my favorite of theirs.
I'm with Atma; I, too, want to get this game.

Havent played this one, but I've always liked Spellcasting 101, from the same guys. Kind of like Harry Potter meets the Animal House.
(Available on Abandonia, btw)

Oh, I'm not stopping - I definitely play to at least play some of the Spellcasting games. I just wanted to cover this one without holding up everything while I muck with the others.

Oh, since the various lists are online now, I guess it's best to suggest themes in here...
I see a dragon, how about Dragons!? Judging from the screenshots, it should also fit on Sex Sells and Over the Top / Whacky...

Over the Top/Wacky yes, but not Sex Sells. The one I stuck up on the index page is as racy as it gets.
