www.hardcoregaming101.net/zyrinx/zyrinx.htmZyrinx is a now-defunct company who was behind Sub-Terrania and Red Zone on the Genesis, as well as Scorcher and Amok on the Saturn. I've only played the Genesis games - and they're really, really hard - but the music on all of these is awesome because Jesper Kyd is involved. Definitely download the MP3 pack.

Hmm,I love Thrust,so I should definitely check out Sub-terrania.
Ah,I found a typo in Scorcher's review, namely the word "vixtory" instead of victory.

I've barely played the first two and I haven't played the last two, but I must say that ST and RZ are really effing awesome. The former reminds me of Solar Jetman and the latter is like those goddamn helicopter missions in Pilotwings, which... now that I think about it, I'm not too fond of those, but I should give both these more of a play. Fine coverage indeed.

So I just got an e-mail that apparently Amok was actually made by a team called Lemon, although still published by the same people. I think I'll just amend it as a "related" game, because it's a shame to just totally remove it from the article.

Yeah...seems the only connection is the Kyd soundtrack. I screwed up there =P

From what the e-mail said, yeah, it's another team as Scavenger, I amended the article to report this. Dunno what else they did though.

I guess Amok was Lemon's only game before Scavenger went kaput - and I also can't find anything else that Scavenger published aside from Amok and Scorcher. Which is strange, because I could have sworn there was at least one more game.

I own Red Zone. That game is great It is the closest thing to a Genesis Metal Gear with chopper scenes that are very similar to the EA "Strike" series. I might check out Sub-Terrania and Amok since I now know they were made by the same guys. Don't care for Scorcher. Not into racers.

Sub-Terrania is probably one of the best games in my Genesis collection. I've been trying to locate Red Zone, came really close one time, but it turned out that they only had the display box at the Game Trader and didn't have the cartridge anymore.
Amok is actually a pretty fun game, considering the controls. And, as usual, Jesper Kyd's soundtrack is awesome.

One thing that's interesting to note is that the JP version of Amok was released by Koei of all people.
FAKE EDIT: I was gonna post something about the bragging on Red Zone's intro by saying that it was only on the tech demo/public domain version Hardwired, but then I looked up the intro on YouTube and was proved wrong.

Incidentally, Red Zone's attract mode sequence bragging about all the graphical effects made it quite popular among some electronics store chains, since they could set up a TV with a Genesis running that game all day and impress the people who thought they wanted Playstations. While Sub-Terrania didn't do any bragging of that sort, a store demonstration setup was what turned me toward the game in the first place. I don't regret it a bit.
