Wow, I was not expecting to see that #1 selection, but I can totally relate to how you felt about the game. It had me on the edge of the couch screaming "SNAAAAAAKE! Get your ass moving dude!". Great, great game.
Anyways, I quickly skimmed your list, but I don't have the time to read it quite yet. I think I'll have to put aside a good hour this weekend, pour a nice scotch, park my ass in a lazy boy, and delve into your prefered video gaming choices.

Jesus, I don't think I could compile a top 10 never mind 101. Oh, this right here... Best I can do is make a non-numbered list.

Not a bad list, obviously a lot of love for the old hardcore 16-bit and 8-bit games. However 2 niggles. Too much love for Halo, it's a run of the mill FPS and there's far better examples of the genre on the PC. The other niggle would be that MGS4 would be nowhere near my top 101 list let alone the top. I hated the game, it did so much wrong. It's about 2 hours of okay gameplay with another 2 on the end that is crap and filled in with reams af awful cinemas and dialogue. MGS3 is another story, I loved that game and it was everything an great MGS game should be. I'll stop because I really have it in for MGS4 and could be here all night.
I also think R-tyoe Final is a pathetic final installment of the series an a bad excuse for a shmup but I think I had my rant about that already.

Come on, they also developed the excellent Shantae Pretty good list, though I disagree on a lot of things. I will say that I found it odd you mentioned how much you enjoy atmosphere, and then rank Rondo above Castlevania IV, though

Wayforward was also somewhat hyped for Sigma Star Saga (even though it turned out to be a dud).
now that I think about it, Contra 4 is called Contra: Dual Spirits in Japan. But I guess it balances out, since Contra III was called Contra Spirits there....although Super Contra was only numbered in Europe (as Probotector II).

I'm a sucker for top# games list so I read this in one go as soon as I had some time off. It was a great read, even though I disagree about most of the picks. I guess the only critique I can give is that some of the texts don't go very in depth, you often state that you like a certain aspect of a game but there's not always an explanation behind it. You're very good at explaining why you Didn't like this or that though. I was surprised by the fact I recognized nearly all the games, but my own list would probably be way more compromised and predictable. Well done and I look forward to the next one .

A wonderful list and an entertaining read. Thank you (: It's just that the rest of the series had been incredibly full of hordes of minor references to the past games, while Resident Evil 4 had incredibly barren amounts in comparison. You certainly love your Run & Gun games, the list is filled with Metal Slug and Contra! But that's no problem I love them too Heheh, absolutely! Reading other peoples opinions is fun. Good work Dual. Thanks! Well, you know me, always glad to help. Of course. ;D Though, my surname actually IS spelled with one "t." Don't sweat it though, I get leters* that make that mistake all the time. And many thanks for the credit, ma'am. Thanks for your kind words, Mike, and I suppose that that extra "t" that I added was thanks to your football Jersey. Cross-board/thread reference #Whatever Well, your opinions are almost correct... but not quite. Seriously though, first thing that popped into my head was "holy fuck," because you put some serious work into this. It didn't click in my mind that you would actually write about 101 games, and it all turned out to be a great read. Entertaining! Hehehe, thanks! I really appreciate everyone who has enjoyed reading it, it was in mind, first and foremost, to address it being a fun read atop all else. It really did take a lot of hard work to finish. writing what you like about things is not work intelligently acknowledging and evaluating the criticisms others level at the things you like, that is work I don't see much work in the opening post. Gawsh, Dais, you don't always have to be such a Negative Nancy, ya know? Anyways, I quickly skimmed your list, but I don't have the time to read it quite yet. I think I'll have to put aside a good hour this weekend, pour a nice scotch, park my ass in a lazy boy, and delve into your prefered video gaming choices. Thank you, I'm really glad you seem to be looking forward to it! Not a bad list, obviously a lot of love for the old hardcore 16-bit and 8-bit games. Thanks! Pretty good list, though I disagree on a lot of things. I will say that I found it odd you mentioned how much you enjoy atmosphere, and then rank Rondo above Castlevania IV, though Thanks, and there's something about a bit of 80's and early 90's anime aesthetic that I really appreciate. It's probably why I'm such a big fan of Gley Lancer (it also resembles Tenchi Muyo's character designs a bit, and I'm a huuuuuuge sucker for that series). I'm quite a bit biased towards it, but I felt that it had a better atmosphere. Not leagues better, but I did like it more. It's all my personal opinion. I'm a pretty big fan of the series, despite having played quite a bit of what PC enthusiasts consider to be better. I'm a sucker for top# games list so I read this in one go as soon as I had some time off. It was a great read, even though I disagree about most of the picks. I very much appreciate that you enjoyed it. I had a little bit of worry about this, but some of the friends I had read it a bit earlier assured me that it wasn't. If I were to make the list longer, I would have gone into detail, but it took a great deal of my time to make it this long, so with some of the earlier titles I only had room for a brief description of (most of my friends do not play many games, so I often leaned a bit towards a brief analysis of the game rather than going into more detail on everything I liked). Hehe, maybe I'll do another sometime, might be a while, though.

Touche, comrade. At this point, I might have to legally alter my surname to accept the spelling people want it to be. I know that some music artist did this, but I forget who exactly that is at the moment.

Hot damn, a full 101 list? Mighty impressive work! Just thinking about making a top 101 games list seems next to impossible, so kudos. It's very entertaining and interesting too, so good job. Lots of good choices. I'm happy to see at least one Smash game make it in (even if it is #101).

Cool, now I want to see a list of Dual's bottom 101 games. And if it contains any games that I happen to like, I'll throw a total bitch-fit!
Since we're on the topic of MGS4, I gotta say that it was a fun game, but I really could have done without that long, boring ending. Also, Otacon was a bit of a crybaby bitch. I guess I couldn't really get into the story enough to really sympathize with the characters. All this stuff about the Patriots and the crazy nano-machine technology was a little too far-fetched for me.
