Wow, them's fightin' words. FFS > ST? Pshaw, close, but so far away. Nah, more like SF2'CE. FF1 is more likened to SF1 with slightly better controls.

I might also add that Fatal Fury 3 came out almost at the same time as SFA1, although Fatal Fury 3 came out a few months first. And Real Bout Fatal Fury basically did the same thing SFA2 did. Yet, they're very different games from their Capcom counterparts.
I wish they would made a Garou 2, but I can see why SNK now mainly produce KoF games instead.

I wish they would made a Garou 2, but I can see why SNK now mainly produce KoF games instead. Everything SNK/Playmore-related that showed up after 2001 was very hit and miss, and a new Garou would probably have the same quality Samurai Shodown 5 or any of the latter KOFs has. So maybe it's a good thing we don't have one.

I been playing Battle Archives Vol. 1 a lot recently and began noticing the gameplay differences between Fatal Fury 2 and Special. They're rather subtle, but they're there.
Also, Capcom definitely took Akuma's Air Gou Hadou from Geese's Gale Slash move from Special.
Is it just me or does Andy Bogard and Geese Howard look too much alike? Even before the Young Geese showed in Art of Fighting 2, there's something of a facial resemblance between the two in the way Shinkiro drew them in Special. I remember reading that Terry and Andy are not actually blood-related brothers. Was Andy supposed to be Geese's bastard son?

Andy being Geese's son was a rumor that existed for a long time amongst die hard fans of the storyline, but besides the facial features nothing exists to indicate it.

Yeah, I always have to tell my brother that. He said something about Jeff being an adoptive father, but I don't know if that is true. Either way, unconfirmed.

Does anyone know how to beat Fatal Fury 2 on one credit with Terry? I can manage against the initial eight, but when I reach the bosses I usually lose to Billy Kane or Axel Hawk.

Does anyone know how to beat Fatal Fury 2 on one credit with Terry? I can manage against the initial eight, but when I reach the bosses I usually lose to Billy Kane or Axel Hawk. I used to play this on Level 4 when it first came out, and learned the hard way. Hopefully I'm not confusing it with FF Special: Billy: He's specially susceptible to low kicks and C + D attacks. Get him on the ground and then keep sweeping him with low kicks (or C + D against the background, which does more damage) as he gets up. Avoid jumping, and use "Attack Avoider" if you are good with it when Billy drops from the sky with his special move. Axel: You are pretty much on your own here. Axel is harder than Blood and Krauser. Avoid jumping unless Axel is just getting off the ground. Low kicks sometimes work, but to a much less degree than with Billy. Avoid using Power Wave (his Tornado Upper is quicker) and try a perfectly timed low sweep when he comes near, which will sometimes connect. If it does, follow with C + D as many times as he doesn't block it. A cheating sequence some Fatal Fury and KOF games' A.I. used to fall for with Terry is: timed weak Power Wave as enemy is getting up (enemy blocks), followed by strong Burning Knuckle (enemy blocks again), then follow up with weak Rising Tackle (enemy will try to hit you after blocking Burning Knuckle but Rising Tackle's higher priority will make it connect). It works in KOF 94, 95, and some Fatal Fury games. Let me know how you do.

Axel is a tough bastard. Every time I believe I found a pattern that works against him, I restart the game and face him, only to get my ass handed by him some way or another. I almost feel like setting the game on Easy and try one-credit that instead. Or just forget about FFury2 and just stick to Special. At this point, I'm just trying to one-credit the game to just to say that I have.

I thought that for a while when I looked through the manual of the Saturn version of Real Bout 1, but Terry also has the same facial structure as Geese and Andy, there. Shinkiro either had a brainfart, or was trying to plant a seed that the rest of SNK decided not to cultivate.

At this point, I'm just trying to one-credit the game to just to say that I have. Didn't we all in the 90's? Also, you might want to try Andy. The game is slow enough that makes his Shoryudan easy to connect, and you can use Hishoken/Shoryudan combinations to keep enemies in the defense. Just like Ryu or Ken in SF. You can also spam weak Kouhadan on cornered enemies, or use Andy's 3 hit pseudo combo. Keep trying! Edit: When you move to FF Special and try to one-credit it, choose Billy and poke to death every single enemy with weak punch. It's cheap, but you can beat the game with lots of perfects even in Level 4.

Fatal Fury BA1 is finally out in the UK...Gamestation seem to be the only place stocking it, for some bizarre reason they have all of their copies in the pre-owned section, despite that they are actually all new and sealed.
I beat Fatal Fury 1. I think I've been doing Terry's crack shot move wrong all these years until today, I could pull it off fairly consistently.

Dammit, I actually reached and defeated Axel on one-credit, only to get my ass handed by Laurence. I usually know how to handle him (since he's the easiest boss next to Krauser), but I guess I became over-confident and lost.
I don't recall using any real strategies against Axel other than defending a lot and jump kicking towards him from a distance (if you do it too close, his uppercut will get you). I remember cornering him at the last round and attacking him with a flurry of Light Punches.
