Typo patrol! Two things I noticed:
- The first time Big Whoop is mentioned, it's called "Big Whoops". Then again, I haven't played MI2 so maybe that's actually the case at the beginning of the game.
- "One of the best parts of this chapter is where Guybrush gives him a lesson in adventure puzzle logic". You must have edited something here because it's not clear that "him" is LeChuck.

Reminds me of pretty much any Shaft anime ever. Still, an interesting effect. I have a few ides of how it could be done -- at least in a 2D game. I'm pretty sure anyone on this site has a solid idea of the 2D concept, except Monkey Island's graphics were 3D! Actually that one's disarmingly easy once you know the trick. Simply, Stan's jacket used screen-relative texture coordinates instead of object-relative texture coordinates, ie the texture coords of any point on the jacket are its x-y position on the screen, not any coordinate that may be encoded into Stan's geometry. Load a looping plaid texture and voilĂ ! Stan's jacket. Also a small correction for the beginning of the monkey 3 article, the cursed ring turns people to gold, not stone. Also, Guybrush's voice actor is named Dominic Armato, not Armando

Few bloopers I found:
(In MI1)
Wonky sentence.
Also, you can skip dialogue in Monkey Island Special Edition, if I recall you have to hold B (in the 360 version) for a moment.
(In MI2)
It was LeChuck's beard that Largo took from Guybrush.
Wonky part in italics.
(In MI5]
'nother wonky sentence.
(In MI6)
Now, I haven't actually played the game, but from the screenshots it would seem to be Guybrush's left hand that is infected.

Thanks for the corrections. The dialogue skip does not seem to exist in the PC version, and even then, from what it sounds like, it skips whole conversations instead of individual lines.

In The Secret of Monkey Island, the pirate who insults Guybrush's name is named "Mancomb Seepgood", not "Manguy Seepgood."

Cool. That image already looks much better than the first SE.

YYEAAAAAAHHHHHH
It looks like since the first game did so well, the second one actually has a budget. Looks damn good.
I still gotta finish up the last Tales episode and update the article with that. I'm only like halfway through it.

As someone who was really upset by how amateurish, ugly, and rushed the art and animation of the first Special Edition could be, I'm glad to say this second remake seems to be shaping up nicely.
Guybrush still looks ugly and awkward as all hell though, but the backgrounds and most of the characters look so much better this time around. None of the splotchy or unfinished art have I seen so far and hopefully no one will have the layers of the original sprites showing through again. From looking at the concept art for the characters as well as what I can see of the shown sprite art, I think they also didn't use the horrible method of tracing over ugly and stiff 3D models like they did the last remake.
Also you can play the original Monkey Island 2 with the new sound this time around, which was stupidly missing last time around as well. Hopefully you can still pick the original music if you want though, as the iMuse system used on Monkey Island 2 was very advanced for the time, with all sorts of created transitions and mixes that games still don't really do especially with how hard it would be with prerecorded digital sound.

That looks gorgeous. And DA, hurry up and finish Tales! That final episode leaves an interesting taste in the mouth, and I would love to hear your thoughts on Tales as a whole!

I just hope the PC version has a better interface this time round, you shouldn't have to change to the original one just to do one of the puzzles. It was odd that they managed to make it feel like a console port even though it was a remake of an old computer game.

There's also a port of Monkey Island 2 to the Elektronika BK-0011, a Russian PDP-11 based home computer. It isn't an "official" port, though. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQQUg9WVJ8s

Haha! That's like...CGA level graphics.
Gotta update this one eventually with the stuff from the book, which completes the Tales write-up (didn't talk much about the final chapter, since it drastically spoils the ending of the one before it) and adds in MI2 SE.

Will the update also explain Spiffy the Wonder Dog? As of now there are just two pics of it, even being granted their own subsection without any explanation given. And also both Special Editions have been released on the iPhone and the Telltales episodes even made their way to the iPad.

I can't remember if the updated book version mentioned Spiffy, although it definitely doesn't feature the comparison pics. Regardless, when I go back to fix this one up, I'll make mention to why it's notable.
